Unreal Engine fatal error
Hi all, I recently bought the game and, after an initial boot perfect, now I can't start the game and pops up an error fatal unreal engine. I don't understand how to do it. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the game but nothing, Steam support wasn't much help. Yet when you first start was going perfectly.

Multiple people, including myself, are having this error. "Unreal engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost.". Not finding a solution atm.

That error refers to the display adapter suddenly being lost to the game. Basically the drivers crashed or something like that. Any OC enabled? Disable them. Otherwise reinstall drivers, etc, etc.

If you’re on a Nvidia Optimus platform (iGPU alongside a dGPU) then you want to be certain that the game is running on the Nvidia dGPU fully as well (configure 3D settings through Nvidia’s Control Panel).

I received this error after playing for nearly 12 hours yesterday. Once the error started I could not play the game for longer than 5 minutes without getting the error.

Downclocking the GPU, reinstalling DBZF, as well as changing graphic settings was not changing anything. I restarted my computer and the error has subsided for the time being.

Can anyone confirm that this is a DBZF issue? I'm running a couple month old non overclocked GTX 1070 and have experienced no interruptions besides this, but some have mentioned that this could be hardware related.

As it says the DXGI device froze, which can be caused by a number of reasons, from an unstable card running at an unstable frequency (even “non-OC’d” cards have automatic boosting that can be unstable nowadays), to an bug in the display drivers, or even a glitchy shader or something in the game that causes the GPU to hang.

Basically lower the settings of the game to begin with.

But this only happens with DBFZ, while with other games using the unreal engine (for example Batman Arkham Knight) work.

I have no idea what error message you get, and can therefor not suggest anything. Basically any error the game runs into is called "Fatal Error." You'll have to screencap the error message and post if so I can see it in its entirety.
