On SAS4 and Ninja Kiwi - Opinion
There's a lot of complaining going on. It has been, for years. There's no updates for SAS4. It's been abandoned, it's a cash grab, etc. Yeah, yeah, I heard you. Now if I may?

Okay, look. The way I see it, yeah, you're right, in a way.

Cash Grabbing? Yep. Devs gotta make money from their stuff. Go shout at the AAA devs. I generally give F2P devs a pass on this. Ninja Kiwi makes pretty damn good games. Be happy they aren't charging you $60 up front. The in-app purchases aren't as bad as people might have you think.

It's abandoned. Um. Yeah. At least for the time being. Look. Y'see that adorable monkey over there? See the dart, tossed from it's hand to make a balloon go "pop!"? Yeah, that's what a lot of people know as Bloons Tower Defense. (Or Bloons, if you've followed Ninja Kiwi long enough.) It's adorable, it's lovable, it's a great workout for strategy if that's your thing. It's not "OH GOD ZOMBIES ARE TAKING OVER THE HUMAN RACE THEY'RE GONNA KILL US ALL!"

For one thing, the Zombie craze has sort of passed. Zombie Apocalypse games aren't all the rage anymore. Secondly, and more to Ninja Kiwi's credit, they have to look at the general interest and who's playing what. If I were a parent (which I'm not) I probably wouldn't be too happy with my kids getting into a blood and gore fest of zombie slaying. It's what I'd do, certainly. But them? Nah, stick with the adorable monkeys popping Bloons. (Edit - Point - It's more accessible for all sorts of people.)

As for the last point, Age. It's an old game. It's been around for a damn good while. It's run it's course, had it's success. It's an old enough game that it's probably best for Ninja Kiwi to perhaps focus their efforts into other projects.

I heard BTD6 is on it's way... Maybe, by the time I tab out and go their website, it'll already be up! Or if you're reading this far in the future, BTD6 could already be a thing of the past, replaced by another game.

But really... SAS4: Zombie Assault is old. The Zombie game craze has passed. Now it's all about Battle Royales... (anyone from the future remember that absurd thing? Heh...) And on one last point I didn't hit earlier, it's not that grindy. Okay, it is. But it's not the worst of the bunch.

TL;DR - SAS4 is in the past, and Ninja Kiwi has focused their efforts on new things. SSDD.

Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad.

@Rytty, it's an opinion for a reason. He is trying to let us understand. of course, this isn't entirely accurate. Only hardcore SAS veterans like me understand what Ninja Kiwi is doing. Well, of course, one thing he stated that was wrong you may ask? He stated that SAS 4 is "old" and that is a reason it is not played anymore. Well well, I look at an even "older" game called BTD 5. And it is still quite popular, though not as popular as before.

I'm going to be completely honest, more people play SAS 4 than people play BTD5 or BTD battles daily on the website. You'd think this would be kind of a priority.
And your point on it being "more accessible", so you're saying every game with a little bit of low quality gore should be abandoned in favor of kid friendly ♥♥♥♥?

No, that isn't true. The dev themself stated that BTD 5 and Battles WEB have SIGNIFICANTLY more players than SAS 4 web, and the mobile games have SIGNIFICANTLY more players than web. The truth is, their player base is about 10% sas 4, and 90% BTD. That's just the truth.

You only have 11 hours in the game

Of coure less people play SAS4 since there have not been updates! If this game was given flash version's content the playerbase would grow significantly.

The original sas 4 web playerbase was only around 20,000 dedicated players... today reduced to a mere 500 or so

Opinion is opinion. Also, I like that people have more solid ground than I do (I'm standing on a corpse, compared to Echo. I basically saw the discussions page, read a few of them, and said "Well, I wonder how people will take my two cents." So far it's better than I had expected! =]

Since Steam SAS4 is the mobile port, I very much agree that adding stuff from the web version would help it out a ton. (Edit: I say 'also' way too much')

I see you went on another keyboard misspelling rage...

Thanks a lot for sharing your very fair and measured thoughts. With regards to SAS, we've no immediate plans to update SAS 4 with new levels or game modes. We're still a very small team here so we need to divide our dev time as effectively as possible between our most popular titles. That's not to say there won't be more SAS updates - we're just not sure if or when at the moment. All of your guys' feedback is noted and passed on, too.

As you touched on, though; BTD 6 is indeed in the works and is not far away from launch, so keep an eye on our social feeds if you're intersted!

Wow Sam! :D

See! I proved that the developers DO read the steam discussions! :)
I was right all along, as I stated before!
