Can this game be played offline?

I heard the player base is small, so I was wondering if I can play with just bots, also my internet is not that quite good and wonder if the game can still be played without a constant internet connection. Older Arena shooters did not require constant connection such as UT99, UT2004, and Quake III. Wanted to know before I try this game, thx
