How to maximize your fps?
is there a way to get more fps, apart from setting every graphics option as low as possible?
my fps can drop to 5, when there is much happening on screen

also, strangely the game gets more fps with 1280x960 resolution, than with the lowest resolution possible, because with this resolution and only this the game is much more zoomed in.
the seperate option of zoom should be added.
I tried manually changing the resolution in the hwr-exe cfg file to something even lower than selectable ingame aswell, but nothing worked :(

Upgrade the computer.

Framerates are usually dependent on your PC. If you can describe your hardware (cpu, gpu, ram, OS, etc) that might be helpful. Additionally you can try to run some basic diagnostics on the game while it runs, Task manager on windows for example has a resource monitor you can open that shows % utilization of your processor cores. You can also check ram usage with task manager. Additionally you can get something like MSI afterburner to examine how much of your graphics card is being used.

If all of your hardware is not at 100% utilization (or close to it) or overheating, then there's something weird going on, probably with your drivers, or a less easy to determine issue.

Hammerwatch is not a particularly demanding game by any respect; so there might be some under the hood shenanigans going on that aren't just hardware alone. Though we won't know for sure without additional info.
What are your specs? We'll know immediately if your problem is just from your computer being too weak, or if there's actually something wrong that needs fixing

Since PoP released I've actually had some really bad framerate issues on the standard campaign as well as the new one, and not even necessarily when the screen is busy. Doesn't happen often, maybe 2-3 times a game and more on multiplayer when you add in packet loss between players. Everything slows to a stuttery crawl for a few seconds then blasts forward in order to catch up. Fortunately I played through the FPS drops and lag in the 90's so I can intuit the safest route to take when it happens, but it's still a problem.

Running a 6850K, 32GB RAM, 980Ti, and game installed on SSD, so specs definitely aren't the issue xD
