Unable to enter Moon Temple with others (online multiplayer)?

I've been trying to get into the Moon Temple with some friends (who all have the DLC) and I can't get into it. We all see the use button symbol in the middle of the room but we can't get past the purple gate.

you *probably* need to all bunch up together at the purple door, try that and see if it works.

Did this work for you? We are also stuck and it suuuucks. The game ate all the items we had bought in preparation because we had to quit without getting past the entrance hall. This is the *only* report I've seen of this issue :[

did trying to use the door at the same time not work for you? everyone needs to be at the doors at the same time to pass through

That's what I'm checking about :) We haven't gathered to try again. Also we haven't beat the basic campaign. The game doesn't prevent entry, so I assume that doesn't matter, even though my research says the difficulty of moon temple is ~Act 3-4 of NG+.
