Invite to private game?

If you host a "private" mp lobby how do you invite people to it? I tried through the steam friends invite to game thing but it didn't work.

I also am having this issue - the game offers to launch with a parameter (a number) but when inside the game, nothing is different.

And I cannot see my friend's lobby.

I've done it through steam before. Open a chat window with the friend you want to invite, click the drop down list next their name and click invite to game. If they click the invite link it should connect them to your game. Just to be sure, make sure they have HoH open already before they accept the invite.

That did not work, but the opposite did -

Finding my friend in steam chat, and clicking 'join game.' That allowed me to join the private lobby (:

I had to send the invite a couple times before it worked for some reason, but friend and I are currently playing together.

You have to be in the main menu for it to work. Exit your current game, return to the main menu and it should work. Apparently it will not work while you are playing a game with with a character in-game solo or multiplayer.
