Farming blueprints
So I've managed to scrape together a handful of blueprints, found none in my NG+1 or +2 games so far, but overall they seem very scarce compared to the number we can (and want to) obtain.

Does anyone out there have good suggestions on how to hunt these down efficiently? Do you do full runs, skip certain zones, leave the dungeon a certain number of floors down?

Old map + save scamming... is the only way. Act 1-2 have low chances for blueprint. Also fountain and NG+++ etc have a higher chances due to more treasures room lack off this blueprints in act 1-2 are the same reason. Also a damn button in act 2 they usually spawn in unaccessible room.

I just play normally on ng+2, play through every act and finish, most blueprints I've found in act 3 and beyond but first 2 acts also have them here and there. (act 3 having the most of all in my experience)

Most runs I get 1-2, a decent bit of runs I get 0 and I've had one lucky run where I got 5.

Remember you don't have to kill every enemy so just go past what you can and only kill what you need to, as knife said old map helps a bunch as you can go only where you need to but I would not say you have to cheat to get blueprints so I definitely don't agree with that being the only way.

Sadly we are not really meant to be grinding for them, since the game is balanced around being designed this way since the beginning and new players playing now will naturally get blueprints as they progress. The only reason we have to do some farming is because we have progressed on the old system and obviously have no blueprints to start out now, so all we can do is do a bunch of runs to catch up a bit.

One thing I've found helps though is playing through with friends who are in normal game, ng+1 or ng+2 to have fun with a friend to make it feel different from just trying to get blueprints, helps make the process feel less grindy.

If someone get 5 in 1 run mean it directly connected to fountain. Looks like fountain have a chance to increase they drop as a bonus on roll. But if it's a new bonus it's very difficult to get it with all this diversity. Looks like I need 400k in next fountain.

My group usually farms them as a team. We join our multiplayer game - set to NG++ and wait until one person gets an old map. This usually takes just a few seconds.

We then race down the levels as fast as we can stopping just before the 2nd boss. Doing this method we have accumulated most of the patterns in just a few hours. I think I am sitting at 60/91 patterns. This is also a good way to get all of your drinks.

Our group is runs +5 and +6 regularly and we hardly ever get any patterns, and in theory when we do harder content we should have better chances to get patterns but unfortunately that is not the case as it doesn't seem to scale past +2.

My advice is to just get it out of the way early - otherwise it is frustrating to wait so long while trying to push harder content and really wishing you had a bunch of attuned blueprints.

I wondered the same thing. I couldn't find any explanation but I figured one way to "save scam".

The following steps might tempt you to cheat (you save a lot of time and some money compared to doing it normally), so if you don't want that, don't read the spoiler.

  1. locate your HoH installation folder and then go to the saves folder.
  2. in the folder you should find a few .hws files. let them be for now.
  3. prepare for your run (get an old map).
  4. go back to main menu to refresh the relevant save files in the saves folder.
  5. go back to town.
  6. in the saves folder, select all the .hws files, right click them, and go to properties. check read only. this will prevent the game from overwriting these files when you progress through the dungeon.
  7. start your run. I progressed only through the first 3 zones.
  8. if you found blueprints, hit esc and return to town (kill yourself). if not, hit alt + f4 and restart the game. you should be in your town with your old map. restart your run.
  9. after returning to town after finding blueprints, uncheck the read only status from the .hws files.
  10. go to main menu to make the game save your progress.

note: I also disabled steam sync for HoH, but I don't know if it matters.

By basic you mean blueprints for white items? if so then yes, I've found blueprints for white items in both +1 and +2.

Not exactly
disable steam sync
You can save once per floor

Reach floor exit. Exit the game (save). Archive your save folder. Enter the game. Go next floor check with old map. No blueprint. Unpack save. Enter the game. Enter next floor again. Repeat until blueprint. Profit. Take blueprint go to the exit. Save...Same can be done for roll item in a chest then solo. But without archive.

2 things:

1. There's a typo, it's not save scamming, it's save scumming. (look it up to make sure)

2. Save scumming basically means that you can save at a specific moment (like before opening a chest for example), do an action (like open a chest), and if you don't like the result, reload and repeat until you have the desired outcome. It's considered cheating in some communities. Me? as long as it's singleplayer or coop, I don't care.

I notice after update there can be floors with like 1-2 chests and with 5-6 chests its random. And with shop only 1 per act with 3 items you can end up dying with 32 items (25 of them trash) in act 3 boss due to low damage or low armour hp like beggar. Was it like this before???

Been doing Paladin in NG+2 up until right before the act 2 boss as suggested; picked up any ore and diamonds that weren't far off along the way resulting in a net gain for economy. Has worked well thus far, three rare blueprints and plenty lower ones.
