Wizard fireball seems off?
I'm using the three test dummies. If those aren't indicative of "real world" performance, please let me know.

I just unlocked wizard and upgraded his primary attack, and the burning passive. Primary fireball lists 12 damage, burning passive says 8 damage / 0.5 seconds, for 2.5 seconds.

First of all, none of the dummies stop burning. Ever. They just keep taking fire damage every .5 seconds forever. Haven't really tested that on an enemy yet. Second, they definitely are not taking 8 damage every tic, nor even half which is generally what I expect vs the magic dummy. It's dealing 1-2.

As for the primary attack, it's dealing MORE damage than the 12 listed. I'm hitting everything for 16 (except for magic dummy, which takes 8).

So like, what's up? Are the tooltips just hosed or is this an actual bug?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that every enemy has magic/phys resistance, just like your character. Maybe that applies to those dummies too, that shielded one at least seem to have more phys resistance than rest of those.

Yeah that's what I thought too, but I'm pretty sure they don't have the 75% resistance required to turn an 8 damage burn into a 2, or even a 1. Also doesn't explain how my primary attack does more damage than it should?

The skill tooltips do not reflect your actual damage (unfortunately). If you check your character sheet, there are two damage boosting sections: Primary Attack, and Skills. I'm not really sure on the math of it all, but it works out something like, for every +1 primary attack or skill, you get 2% extra damage.

So, if your fireball tooltip said 12 damage, but you were actually dealing 16, perhaps you had +15 primary attack on the stats page, which would give you a 30% increase?

I have no idea about the burning damage though, I'd like to know what the deal is myself. 12 damage every 0.5 seconds for 3 seconds, to me, means that I will deal 12x6 damage, or 72 damage from the debuff. However, when I burn a random boss beetle on floor 3 using my secondary attack, it only takes like, 4 ticks of 8 damage over around 3 seconds, certainly not 6 ticks of 12.

The training dummies burning infinitely seems like a bug, since it wasn't happening on launch day, but I noticed it happening as of yesterday.

You're absolutely right about the extra fireball damage, and I'm an idiot for forgetting that. Thank you. But yeah burn damage is off it seems.
