Do you ever go back to the town without dieing?

I have only got as far as defeating the first boss. Is there ever a way back home, or must you die everytime?

you can return to town from the menu but it's the same as getting killed

You're never intented to get back to town with all of your items because it would make the game unbalanced

Mine, then dungeons/cells, then fortress/castle area? And no, the only way back is death, and as mentioned it would be stupid inbalance to return back to town with all your epic item drops and other phat lootz.

The mine has 20 floors. 5 Acts, 3 floors for each act plus a boss for each one. I'd presume that beating the final boss may send you back to down, albeit I havent gotten that far to test.
