Hell I can't even force my second pc to start fresh. Disabling sync and even disabling the internet, after deleting the save files fails. They are all still there, magically, for all eternity.
Hence... this game has a damn hidden save folder SOMEWHERE on my PC that it's loading the saves from.
I can't even sniff it out, this program is nearly approaching virus territory in how well it's hiding it's files.
For me it is <drive letter>:\Steam\steamapps\common\Heroes of Hammerwatch\saves
There it is, exactly where the game have been installed!
Game saves each time you quit to menu or shut down the game (Alt + F4), but not middle of gameplay(minus dying and quitting manually, naturally).
Now what changes when you select a character, and then quit? Both 'town.bsa' and '<random number string>.sav'. Town, I assume, is all NPCs, upgrades done to your own town, total money and ores.
Also, a bit off-topic, but once/if you unlock that tavern NPC (and thus Thief character?), you can gamble. And this one here is pretty interesting; gambling outcomes are saved to a file somewhere ('town.bsa' I guess?). Meaning, that no matter how many times you re-load your saves (copy-paste old savefile over the current ones (this means both used character's .sav and town.bsa files)), the outcome for current bet is always the same. If you count for example, three losses in row for 500 bet, two wins after that, it will ALWAYS happen, when you reload your current save file. Always. Meaning, that if you have 10k to spare, gamble as much as you want, and figure out if you can actually end up with profit.
All the bets have their own outcomes, meaning that two rounds of 500 bets means two losses, and if one 1000 bet is lost as well, and you switch back to 500 bets, you'll lose the third (already predicted) round on that bet.
Sorry for a wall of text!
