Unable to connect to multiplayer

Hello, whenever I try to connect to my friends I get stuck in "Connecting to game" then "Timeout in X seconds" then "Game server connection failed".

Two of my friends are able to connect to each other, but when I host, I only enter the game alone and they both get the connection failed error.

I tried verifying the game integrity, I tried reinstalling the game completely, I disabled windows firewall, I never had any connection problems with other steam or non steam games.

Any ideas ?

You are not the only one, we wasted yesterday almost 1h try to work it out and it just does NOT work. The game devs are a joke. They charge us $30 and multiplayer part doesn't even work.
Tells me they never even tried to test it. 0/10

Thank you for your reply, at least I know I'm not the only one. The weird thing is, my friends, who live in the same city, have no troubles connecting to each other. Also, I was able to play with some random people in public lobbies, but connecting to friends ? Timeout and connection failed. Half-assed, unfinished game, we'll add this later, we'll add that later, you can't even change the volume in the menu :D The game at this state should've been early access, and released a few months later and not waiting 1-6 months for patches AFTER you bought the "FULL" game

It's been 5 days and I still can't play multiplayer with my friends on steam. No response from the devs anywhere (facebook, reddit, twitter, forums) and the support button on the spintires mudrunne website is greyed out. I'll give it a week then I'll be forced to refund

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago, we've wasted 30-45 mins before we couold establish a connection. Even the multiplayer data save worked well as we continued our game a few days after. Today we wanted to start a new game on another map, but this time we had the same issues as we had the first time. One of us couln't join the game, I believe we tried every possible way to connect, through the game and through steam. Nothing worked or lets say it worked once but just for a few seconds then I got kicked, rejoind worked but jsut for few seconds before the next kick came. This is embarassing.

Timeouts are very rare... (compared to all the trouble shooting happening constantly). We tried to find out, what's going on when a connection isn't going to happen, but never came to a conclusion.

Timeouts can happen in different cases, but with my understanding of computer technology it's mostly caused by some external circumstances, not the game itself. The best would be to narrow down the problem to a few reasons... can you test the game on a second machine? or maybe save an OS image and do a fresh Windows + MudRunner installation comparing both computer configurations?
