So what CAN carry Long Logs?
In Spintires, almost all trucks could equip a Long Log Cart. In this one, I can't find a single one which can. What am I missing? Which machines are supposed to be able to carry long logs? I don't feel like doing a zillion trips with short logs, plus towing that giant trailer is half the fun.

C255, c256 and i don't earned it currently, but probably c260 too. I strongly suggest to add c255 to your starting fleet. I've played the first two maps, and there are only medium log carriers and rescue vehicles for unlocking, so starting with c255 is a must.

I couldn't get the long log trailer to hook up. Why? I have no ideal.

There could be conflicting attachments. If you have spare wheel on C255, you won't be able to have long log setup.

I never use spare tire (didn't see the point).

No, it is used for repair points to fix anything. Vehicles in this game don't have detailed damage model

Ahh, so having a spare wheel when trying to repair another truck is a good thing then?

WOW I thought the spare was for looks!

To use the long log trailer you need the log carrier attached first.
Or you can use the log carrier with crane instead, which requires the crane support attached first.

And yes, spare wheel is always good to bring along, so you can do a quick (and small) repair in the field without having to bring a dedicated repair truck.

If you want to check which trucks can use what, I recommend you use the "proving grounds" option. It lets you spawn any vehicle :)

It tells you in the loadout screen what you need or what you need to remove in order to attach something. Spare wheel gets in the way of a lot of attachments, but if you can see the thing you want on the list, it means you can use it, just you need to right stuff.

Right the C200-series of trucks have the Long Log Cart. I ended up going into the Proving Grounds and spawning all the trucks. This brings up another question, though - what's the point of using anything besides the C255? Do the different trucks have different stats, and if so where can one find that out?

As to the Spare Wheel, it's a repair item capable of "healing" a small number of generic hit points to the truck carrying it or other trucks nearby. Unless a truck mod conflicts with it, it's always a good idea to carry one because it doesn't seem to have an impact on truck performance.

Some trucks have less power than others... you can find yourself stuck in rather small puddles of mud with small logs with certain trucks (B-131) while others might go right through easily (C-375). The reason to use those less capable truck is simply self-challenge... for instance completing a map using the B-130 only or trucks like the C-256 with regular road tires on it. As expected they won't grip well in the mud and thus makes it much more challenging.

Is there any way to know which truck has what stats, though? Without digging into the game's files? The majority of the trucks I have access to are all three starrs, does that mean they have the same stats? Because they certainly don't have the same mod loadout.

I'm fan of KrAZ series (C-2XX) so expect some bias.
С-2ХХ series are powerful enough to carry long logs but consume fuel very fast (C-255 on 1+ has ~30 L/min, C-260 on 1+ has ~40 L/min). "Ural" series (C-375, C-4320xx) are on the whole faster but relatively thin wheels doesn't provide traction for such loads, except may be C-432010, which comparable with C-2xx series, but tweaked for speed rather than for pulling.

I didn't drive "KamAZ" series (C-4310, C-65111, C-65115) much, but can certainly say that latter can reach up to ingame ~50 kmh and is fastest truck in game while having 9-speed gearbox, flat tires and no offroad abilities .

B-131 is cheap (2 star) and fuel efficient, but you won't get anywhere fast.
D and E class 8wheelers are expensive (4 star), rigid to steer and consume fuel a lot. D's had all lumber attachments but now they're limited to 2 short log carriages (log carriage and log cart). Well, in this game short log load bear 3 points, towing one long log load seems redundant.

Small note, the Ural trucks all seem to have smaller fuel tanks than the Kraz trucks, 270 vs. 330l on average which can make quite the difference on hardcore.

Also the E-7310 can carry medium logs as well as a short log trailer, allowing it to carry a maximum of 7 points at once.
