Right off the top of my head...
Russia Bleeds
Streets of Rage 4
River City Girls
River City Ransom (modern day remake)
And if you go back in time
with a lot less content but smarter game play:
Renegade
Battletoads
Double Dragon
Also lol at recommending SoR4, the game that thinks that good design is "just give super armor to every enemy and call it a day".
I never managed to beat battletoads, you're hardcore man.
Is russia bleeds that good ? It had some poor critics at the time so i didn't bother
It's ok, I've only put about an hour into it - The fights felt like thought went behind them unlike Fight'N Rage which I don't think Fight'N Rage's code is deep enough to pit you one against one without spamming twenty other enemies to bring you down through attrition rather than strategy.
I've played Mother russia bleeds (20h), river city ransom (80h), fnr (45h), classics etc a lot, they are all solid in their own right. I would like to try Takeover and maybe Raging justice too at some point. Sor4 I almost bought, but replaying sor1-3 recently a couple of times burned me out, so I'll wait it out a little I think. Anyways, good recommendations overall I reckon. I grew up on Renegade, etc.
You win through strategy and combat wise it has way more depth than anything you listed. And if you want one against one play fighting games, the whole point of the genre is to fight many,
Just admit you are too dumb to beat the game, we all know that already.
It's the attrition thing that gets me. I also wish there were more moves. What should be a 'kick' button is like a suicide button taking away chunks of health.
I had a similar issue with Remnant where the first boss you're pitted against seems like the developer was expecting you to tag-team with a co-op player.
This might be Fight'N Rage's problem is that it isn't adjusting enemy number, health and aggression in respect to the number of players.
You just need to learn to play. That you complain that specials take chunks of health away tells me you are just simply mashing your way through, since there's a meter that when filled lets you use specials without life loss, and successful parries instantly give you a full meter. Also strange that you mention SoR4 as doing things better when using specials is a forced life loss unless you hit enemies back to recover it, which limits their usage vastly more, and that any difficulty above normal fills the screen with enemies with armored attacks.
>Bad guy difficult
>Wants cheat codes
>No intelligent fights
>Says kick button is suicide button (<- Something that only happens when you are mashing)
You're making a LOT of sense there
If you can't adapt and cannot be bothered, just play something else
If you WANT to play, everyone here would be glad to lend you some knowledge in case you missed something or something is unclear
But when you throw a tantrum over your own lack of capabilities and shaming someone/thing else, all you do is come off as a normie elitist
