Could set up games where Players vs Bots like in Sandstorm, but bigger. And a mix of both on each side.
This is a classic example of a player who doesn't understand the importance of having a product that caters to as many people as possible. It shouldn't matter to you if there are bots in the game and you should definitely not wish for it to not happen in the future.
I haven't bought the game as well due to no bots because online MP games are heavily dependent on human players and the popularity of the product in a crowded market. This game should have released with bots because it would have made it more desirable for players that really like the product, but know that the community isn't thriving online. I didn't buy RB6: Siege as well because of no bots.
There are plenty of players out there realizing how they shouldn't rely on MP only games or games that require a constant internet connection. We are being smarter with our money and we know that it can be hit or miss with these MP only games that have zero bots. Insurgency, COD (some of their games), Gears of War, and others titles, did a great job having bot support. It allowed players to enjoy the game long after it's popularity online died down or never existed.
World War 3 is the type of game that truly needed bots.
I wouldn't mind bots at all, they can be good for testing (especially if F51 enables mod support post release) but there's one thing I think we should keep in mind.... game developers have budgets and schedules they're trying to adhere to for EA titles they're developing for release.
Programming bots to be even remotely useful does take a considerable amount of time and money. You can't just whip them up in a day. So if bots aren't built into the original plans and financial resources of a game, we shouldn't expect them to just be tacked on to development before release.
Implementing bots after the game is released and the last bugs squashed could be a possibility, depending on what F51 already has planned for post release content.
Then there's also the possibility F51 will implement a SDK post release, which means the community would be able to create almost anything they want for the game... including bots.
Well, if they don't add them, it isn't a purchase for me and many others. It's all about the product being worthy of a purchase. Some feel that they don't need bots, while others like myself beg to differ. In the end, we all have the freedom to purchase or not to purchase.
Not only would i be able to shoot more stuff and play the game in more different ways (because such creepmechanics provide more tactical depth), i would also not mind that much if a server was empty.
Actually adding creeps to the gameplay would probably be the best idea for the game in general. Create a better feeling in the gameplay, make the maps more alive (even with thousands of players online a filled server felt quite empty), add cannon fodder when servers are empty and make the game deeper.
That's quite understandable, not every game is for everyone. Hope you and others find enjoyment in a game that meets your requirements.
I hope it happens, because the game feels little empty for that World War / Battlefield feeling.
