General Question Regarding Kastelans

How to Kastelan robots fare in general? What can they take as weapons?

Kastelans, in lore, are basically giant walking siege engines carrying the largest, most destructive, and often most esoteric weapons available to the AdMech. They should fare well.

They are tanky and can absorb a lot of hits with their shield up. Buuuut by the time you even have them, you should be clearing out the entire map in one turn with your techpriest anyway.

For weapons, they are the two fist/flamer varient (not the OP tripple heavy phospher blasters that everyone runs on Table Top)

I did a run with primarily troops, mostly using 2 kastelans in a cohort at later point in the game.

they cost 5cp to deploy so I generally found rather than deploying normally, you want to use the final Secutor perk that allows you to call in reinforcements. This will let you teleport a kastelan in anywhere on the map for 1cp, giving you plenty to deploy your longer-range vanguards and rangers.

Combat wise they don't do too much damage without buffs, they have a decently sized flamer cone in the form of an Incendine Combustor which does 5-10 P.Damage and a melee attack that does 3-6 Damage. At level 2 they can stun enemies which rarely see's use, but at level 3 they get acess to a second smaller flamer attack that does damage all around the kastelan.

Teleporting them in with reinforcements lets you slap a bunch of buffs on them and gank bosses and enemies that are too far away to reach otherwise.

TLDR: They're alright, they have a good aoe but lack overall damage. Skip unless you can teleport them in and buff them with Secutor Perks and Canisters.

When do I get them? Im at 74% and still dont have the robots or breachers :(

they're pretty far in, in order to get better troops, you need to unlock weaker troops, so focus on missions that give you troops or troop upgrades as opposed to gear. I found exausting Khepra and Scaevolas missions led to getting both Kataphrons and Kastelans.
