Necron Destroyer - Mission 3 total wipeout 'easy'
So,

I've done misison 3 now 4 times (annoying no autosave on the ship, didn't expect a wipe on third mission while still getting a few abilities).

I'm not sure if it's the same for everybody but... firstly.

1. The destroyer gets 2 turns for each of my one - move fire - move fire.

This makes it impossible to get into melle range for me - if I get close, he runs off and shoots - if I run off he moves foraward (very far - and snipes).

2. The destroyers damage.

On my servitors he was one shot killing, on my main guys 2 shot killing. That means in one turn he can drop 2 of my sidekicks or one of my tech preists. 8+ damage a shot when I've got 12 HP isn't fun.

3. Destroyer LOS

I attempted to hide around a corner to get him into melle range , but he seemed to have better LOS for ranged attacks than me (could shoot me just around corners).

Now, while I'm still new to the game - I've done every other mission & they seem fine - a nice challenge with a couple of potential losses if I active too much.

Is this how it's meant to be, as with 2 shots for each of my one turns I can't see how it's realistically doable that early in the game.

You can get a pretty decent weapon upgrade by the time you do that mission, which helps a ton

Honestly it's just a bit of a learning curve - it's like they said in the interviews (paraphrased) - without a cover system, you have to get a bit more creative & aggressive.

Eh, I just stood behind the corner until he rounded it to shoot at me from his max distance at the ledge, then I ran my servitors up to him and two of them killed him on their own with I think one shot from my ranged priest's energy rifle. He oneshot one of them when he turned the corner and took a shot at my melee guy but that's what those dudes are there for.

There are many ways to get into melee, and forcing the Destroyer to move when he's tied into melee can be a powerful tactic.
This part is not broken and is as intended.

Servitors are meant to be super weak :)
It's all about positioning of your units, charging directly at the target or standing right out in the open is just going to get units killed. At the very least use your servitors as a target dumby, or wall.
Move > Shoot > move is possible in Mechanicus. You also have CP (Cognition Points) movement
so there's rarely a moment that movement cannot be exicuted into a tactical strategy.

Now this!
This is an issue... well a [bug]
And we have been made aware of this Destroyers magical shooting through walls bug and will be addressing this issue for sure.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I on the other hand broke the game.

I have virtually limitless cog points since enemy will die way before i run out of them with 4 tech priests each with full regen, cog points for kills, cog points for getting into their turn, servo skull grabbing up to 3, scanners, dendrites and so on.

So now i speedy gonzales across the map firing buffed aoe on groups.

Voodoo can ya share your priest buildout? :)

Do some missions without using Canticles. Get the +9 to next melee attack Canticle.

Walk up to him with a Power Axe and cut him in half. Don't deploy all your Servitors at once. Deploy one, run it into his LOS, he'll focus it and kill it. Do some damage. Deploy the next, etc.

I guess they fixed the wall hack bug by the time I got to him, cause I hid out of his LOS for long enough for him to get with in charging range of my Melee priest and some Ablative Meat Shields (aka the servitors).

HAHAHA.

But to OP, he blew a servitor out of his boots and them I bum rushed with the melee weapon i get at the start of the game (much <3 on that armor stripping BTW). When he moves away its a free shot that normally costs cog. Plus prayer for +melee damage.

I also had that ranged weapon that costs two cog to shoot and obliterated one of the Necron foot soldiers with a crit. Crit = immediate removal

My build for all is level 3+ on heals, level 1 to ignore opportunity hits, level 1 on ranged, level 1 - 3 cognition
it's now 2020, Destroyers still shoot through wall.
Just went through this missions myself. The fact that the destroyer moves twice and shoots twice while kiting all of your units and your best ranged weapon does 1-2 damage... yeah, that is pretty bad. Servitors cannot really get to this unit as they lack the movement range and the enemy literally just stays just outside of the range of anything melee you have.

And of course, after losing all of your Servitors, game spawns infinite amount of scarabs and warriors.

And all of that on normal. And the game says this mission is "easy".

Seems nothing has changed since 2018.

Either bum-rush the Destroyer with melee (and destroy him with opportunity attacks, or completely stop him from moving), or use more powerful guns. If you're too slow to get to it, or can't harm it with guns, then you're doing something wrong.

Honestly, I have beaten the entire game on normal and not even the last boss, with difficulty Pray to Omnisiah is this difficult - as it does not target one tech-priest twice in a row, without you having any way to do anything, not even use canticle. WHY does he go last in one round and first the other?! WHY?

This mission should have been labeled "hard" so that players accumulate gear before attempting it - on my second playthrough with Ironman and Permadeath I still lost 1 tech-priest on NORMAL

Huh, that mission's still showing up way earlier than it should be? Would have thought that bug would have been fixed by now, it's common enough.

It's basically impossible if you try to do it as the third mission you get. Should be showing up later, not before you've even encountered all the low-end Necron infantry. At the very least, it should be labelled as very hard if it's still going to show up super early in the game.
