NEW WEAPON: Xenarite Macrostubber
So yeah, the 40K event a couple weeks back mentioned a free, new weapon added to the game. For some reason, I couldn't find any mention of what the weapon actually was, and I wondered if it was a mistake or a reference to the new weapons included with Omnissiah or Heretek+.

I only got around to opening up the game again today and sitting in my Cohort bay was the shiny new Xenarite Macrostubber!

Like the Macrostubber but now with more forbidden Xenarite shenanigans. 1 CP cost, 1 Augment cost, 2-4 Physical Damage, applies Acid. Machine spirit confers +1 damage. Macrostubber is a favorite of mine early game and this one is unlocked, like the DLC weapons, from the start, so I'm eager to use it.

EDIT: can confirm that the Xenarite version is a straight upgrade from the default Macrostubber. Same cost, same damage, but the Xenarite version applies Acid. It's a minor nitpick but I'd have liked the weapons to be differentiated - perhaps have the Xenarite weapon cost more, do less damage, do self-damage, or have a different machine spirit effect. At the moment it makes the default Macrostubber entirely obsolete.

Anyway just figured I'd put this info out there. Mechanicus is one of my few "favorite" games and I'm happy to see a tiny content drop even after development has ended. Thanks to the devs and such. Insert obligatory "Mechanicus 2 when???" query here. :)

The Emperor protects.

Woaw so this is my first run ever of the game. I thought it was part of the default weapons and I use it since the start. Not the best but quite cheap and usefull weapon.

Nice!

Yeah, it's cheap to use and more importantly it's one of the few ranged "Physical" attacks in the game. The game is weighed heavily towards powerful, long-ranged energy attacks and the Physical weapons generally don't scale well into the late game. As a result, dealing with a high-health enemy with Energy armor can be difficult.

Sorry for the rant but meta is fun: I recommend getting some Explorator perks into your Cohort, building one tech-priest into a full Explorator, or bringing along Skitarii Vanguards, Rustalkers, and Ranger Alphas for the above reasons. Energy attacks are plentiful, powerful, and priests can generally carry more of them. Physical attacks will be in high demand to break enemies with Energy armor.

yeah i find it a bit weird, ive only used the macrostubber in the tutorial. defeats the purpose of unlocking the macrostubber later unless you want to be in character for siding with Videx.
