Red damage type question

Loving the game, but I'm confused by the red damage type. From what I read it ignores armor, but does it then not get any bonuses from things that buff either energy or physical damage attacks like some of the gloves?

yes, it doesn't get any benefits from those. But it is still good because, well it ignores armor and in the late game theres a lot of that. For example Lychguard. They have armor for both types for one 2 and for the other one 7.

Red damage is always good but critical is always better it bypass any kind of armor

Also be aware that every weapon does something when charged with the Power of the Machine Spirit. Some actually destroy enemy armor in this state. I think gamma pistols (red damage) do so.
