When a Tech-Priest "dies" with ironman off, he doesn't actually die, more like knocked out.
After the mission you pay his full medical bill in Blackstone, but he is perfectly fine after that.

With Ironman, if a priest is killed, that's it. No saves, he is dead, liven't, game-ended. You can't pay for his medical bill, this means you loose a Unique tech-priest that you CAN NOT get back.

Ironman - no save and load. Permadeath - priests dies = he stays dead.

Is there a way to replace a dead tech priest, or do you only ever get six?

with permadeath you can't get a replacement (not a new tech-priest), so instead of him you'll have to use a trooper (skitarii).
