Canticles are incredibly overpowered.
The canticle system gives way too much value in its current form. A little tweaking could make it much better and add difficulty to the game.

Currently you can use one +9 damage canticle to clear out an entire map with a Phosphor Blaster or Flamer. +9 cogs makes the cog management meaningless because you can wipe out everyone in 1 turn. +15 movement lets you run around the whole map multiple times.

I would suggest dividing all of the effects by a factor of 3.

IE: +3...+6...+9 damage becomes +1...+2...+3 damage and so on.

Along with this change make the canticles regenerate after every battle instead of every mission.

This makes it so every ability is impactful and gives you a little extra boost when you need it and also the player is not hesitant to spend the canticle because they are concerned they might need it for another battle during that mission.

I think this is an easy fix to a glaring issue.

Also I would make the "Overzealous" ability that makes each canticle playable again cost three cogs instead of two, and elegant solution to the issue of gaming the system for extra cogs.

I'd also add that stacking multiple levels of the same canticle shouldn't be a thing. That's just a one-shot machine and there are plenty of those even without canticles. Also, the 'ignore armor' one definetely needs a rework, cause as it is it just makes choosing which type of damage to apply to which target a non-issue.

I agree that stacking should probably not be a thing although it would not be as game breaking if the canticles were nerfed as you would have to spend all three canticle slots to get the effect of one rank three canticle as things currently stand.

Also agree that ignore armor is very powerful and takes strategy out of the game.

You already have the "armor breaking" canticles which serve a similar purpose. I think there are too many as it stands.

It also feels weird that I get the +9 cogs canticle after only several missions but I still have only like 4 or 5 max cogs.
