But I don't want to rush and blame the devs for everything. That was only a part of my really strange problems with the game. Of course verified files, reinstalled researched etc, but nothing helped. It's so bad, but the game is so highly spoken of, in my case,
I gave up with the menus. The only positive is no crash, and a rock steady 140fps. It looked like ultra low however, and that is not the pixels, that's of course by design. It's just been huge fail for me.
I can't and wont speak for the OP, But I strongly believe that it's my fault. (with the only exception of the bindings menu, and functionality, that should be sorted out. ) Thats for the devs to improve, but the other 90% I won't blame at all the devs. Because everything just didn't work.
I have been a gamer since 1979 (yes, I am an old fart.), I build and sell high spec PCs, and only post this because I am at a loss.
Except for the great smooth frame rate. (It didn't crash, but then that's expected. I game everyday, and most games, even ones with 100s of hours haven't crashed once.) It's happened, but rarely, and always a reason and almost always a solution is at hand. Well, after take a few hours of reading. And of course reinstall verify, check drivers hardware, I do all the normal stuff to trouble shoot rare crashes, and always find out the reason.
But I cannot understand what has gone so awfully wrong just this one game. Whatever it is, I cannot blame the devs. My experience was so bad in every way accept the excellent frame rates that Steam probably would reject it.
I am convinced that I did something wrong, or somehow, even after verifying, reinstalling etc nothing worked even slightly better. I really hope I, and you OP re: bindings, can get a fix.
But in my case, except for bindings, the fix would be some clever person who knows.
I bet it's something simple too. But for the love of (god of choice), I have no idea.
I want to be clear that I have trouble shooted quite extensively, all files verified, and everything is as it should be. It's a mystery to me, but I cannot blame the devs. I am missing something.
I will not refund, I just want it to work.
I'll find out finally, or more likely some one will have insight into this, so no fuss, and no negative comments to the devs from me. It's on my end mostly, I am sure of it.
Turns out steam kind bind keys that are not default to my controller. I'll check that out. Still not the best answer from the dev to not crouch. You can technically complete doom without turning left but that ain't my type of fun.
What kind of controller are you using? Does a Steam controller profile get loaded (for me it's a popup in the lower right corner) when you start the game? I can't offer you any help unfortunately, but maybe some more info might help to get it fixed.
