Is the game require a lot of text typing or something? Keyboard is alphanumerical input device after all. I like analog movement in shooters.
If you are so hellbent on 'pc dudes play on laptops' or something, why don't you properly support Steam Controller then? It has precision of a mouse.
I do agree that the game could atleast have partial controller support for people who have physical ailments/disabilities and people who prefer gamepad. I think they are more 'hellbent' on marketing the game to the 'hardcore' FPS crowd (unfortunate for anyone who plays using gamepads, for those people reading this my advise is to get a Steam Controller, they are really flexible with all the configurations you can make because they give you a lot of options).
Have you tried lowering in game sensitivity and raising the Steam Controller's sensitivity? I know it sounds weird but you will get a better response from the trackpad, and don't neglect the advanced options like mouse smoothing, edge-spin, trackball mode, and trigger dampening. Some of those sound odd but they are very useful, you just need to find the right setup, experimenting is part of the fun and feels really good when you get everything toned just right.
I haven't played your game yet, but from what. I've seen I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work with a thumbstick, just add a sensitivity slider and that's it!
Trust me I play even Quake 3 Arena with a gamepad and it works great with that high speed gameplay, it works great for the classic and new Doom too, so why not adding controller support and adding a warning on the start up: "Keyboard and mouse recommended for optimal gameplay" just like super meat boy does suggesting the use of a controller :D
BS on both. I've seen way faster shooters with proper controller support. FFS original Quake 1-2 works with gamepad just fine and they aren't any slower paced games. You are limiting playerbase, add options and let people choose instead.
The point is how acceleration and speed curves are tuned. Not to mention that it's a singleplayer game, add some slight aim assist and call it a day.
Steam Controller emulates mouse enough that there is even people playing CSGO with it. C'on, just tell us 'we have no experience in implementing proper gamepad controls and we thought no one will bother on PC and all, forgive us please', we'd understand. But this 'twitch shooter' is lame excuse, because there is a lot of twitch shooters that work with gamepads just fine.
I'll wait for a bigger sale in the future to reconsider if will ever buy or pass this one instead of buying it right now.
Anyway, thanks for your reply on the topic.
Thanks!
What is the problem?
are you on windows? can you try holding control while launching and selecting a resolution from the list? its possibly defaulting to something weird
