What is YOUR take on VOIP Moderation?

I made this discussion after having a conversation about it in a lobby, which had a mixed reception; some were for it while others were against it. It was a surprisingly civil debate.

I think the moderation is excessive but I can SOMEWHAT understand it. One of the game’s main attributes is VOIP and literally 80% of the lobbies are very vocal; some people can be turned off from experiencing ‘toxic’ behaviour which is somewhat understandable. However, I think the line between what’s acceptable and what isn’t in this game is becoming more blurred and vague.

Broken Circle’s take is something I whole-heartedly agree with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlsPQExGLxo&ab_channel=BrokenCircle and we also see SgtOkiDoki’s response as well (in the comments), which brings in another question: is a game ban necessary compared to a mute suspension, or justified?

Id be curious to what you all think.

Personally for this game to be free range VOIP ive yet to have a terrible experience compared to some games. I dont really think moderation is a good move considering there hasnt been a crap ton of dumb stuff. Moderation would just ruin VOIP like every other game to be honest its a wonder why AAA games want to just rid VOIP because they care to much LOL

For example i really like how league handles things regarding zero tolerance language in chat. The sytem triggers on certain words and mutes you completly for the rest of the game.
If you do this a few more times you get a chat ban. The system works really damn well and trash talk went down to "dogs" & "monkeys".
Surely theres a way to implement a Voice Chat Filter like that?
I dont really care about monitoring but those resources could be used elsewhere when u got a system doing the job for you.

People who get on discussions and argue they should be able to say anything without repercussions are the same people that get offended that they can't. The hypocrisy is unreal.

Also, to be real, they're mostly if not entirely conservatives, whom are in favor of businesses being able to do whatever they want. Well this business says you can't behave like a child on their game. Play by their rules or play somewhere else. You can't have it both ways. It's actually unbelievable.

it's not about taking offence to words as much as it is about realising you have the agency to silence the person that's causing you to have conniption fits because of petty insults, without outright preventing the other person from playing the game just because you're vindictive and prefer disproportionate punishments. when you come of age you'll realise that ignoring someone that's trying to verbally offend you takes the wind out of their sails rather quickly.

"You should be able to say any slurs or anything you want because if someone ignores you maybe you'll stop." I understand full well about taking the wind out of someone's sails, which is why I'm about to end this conversation entirely. The "You shouldn't be offended by my words intentionally meant to offend you" argument is hilariously stupid. There's really no other way to put it.

I have no words that could possibly educate you to the absurdity of that. I reckon you're someone that owns the game but has multiple accounts to $hitpost when they get banned. Which is an extremely common thing in this and many other games (Rocket League strikes me as an example).

You have no right to comment or have an opinion about something that doesn't affect you (another conservative idealism BTW).
