Adding Faceit
Can you please explain why people are angry about the fact that the developers are going to add faceit? I don't understand the subject.

Lulu from FACEIT here, I am VP of Product for Community Integrity and Labs, and among other things I help game developers that want to integrate with our products. You might have seen me on the Battlebit Discord or in other Steam Discussions.

I can read there are still some concerns around our Anticheat, how it works and what it does. And I get why some players are concerned, it is a new software you need to install to play your favorite game and therefore, you should all do your research.

With my comments below, I hope I can shed some light on what we do and don't do and how FACEIT Anticheat Lite is going to work.

First of all, we are developing a new product, called FACEIT Anticheat Lite, and as we develop it, we are working closely with the Battlebit Game Devs to collect feedback from all players on Steam, Discord etc.

1. FACEIT Anticheat Lite is going to support Linux. We are starting with Proton and SteamDeck, and we will then add other popular Linux builds. I will be sharing updates on progress in the Battlebit Discord.

2. FACEIT Anticheat lite gives the option to game developers to disable some system integrity checks and in particular, in battlebit we will have this configuration:
a) There will be no checks for secureboot, so nobody will need to enable it.
b) We won't be requiring to update your operating system.
c) You can run HyperV without any special requirements.

3. Both FACEIT Anticheat Lite and FACEIT Anticheat receive data only when a protected game is running. This means you need to have the user app running on the PC, otherwise the driver won't be sending anything to anywhere.

4. We don't collect keyboard strokes or anything that you might be typing. We don't know (or care) about your browsing history.

5. We have several internal controls in place who limit who can access the information, our code always gets reviewed and more. We also run external audits of our software, testing and pen testing.

6. All Personal Data that our anticheat processes is encrypted at transit and at rest, and we also apply CSLE encryption on each piece of information. This means that if someone manages somehow to hack into our databases, they will also need to find our encryption keys and this means accessing several places.

7. ESL Gaming Group has been acquired by Savvy Gaming which in turn is owned by PIF. PIF is the government investment fund from Saudi Arabia. Now, FACEIT Limited is based in the UK, and ESL Gaming is based in Germany. This means that at the ESL FACEIT Group, we have to comply with UK Privacy Laws, European Privacy Laws and the GDPR. Since the company operates globally, we also consider local regulations like the California Privacy Act and more. We process all of your data in compliance with these laws, and in accordance our privacy policy. Nothing is ever shared with PIF or the Saudi Govenment .

8. Our anticheat doesn't unistall or delete any software on any machine. It simply doesn't have that access. If we detect a forbidden driver, we give you an error and its up to players to decide what they want to do. If there were any such reports, it would be great if you can send them over for me to investigate.

Bro, just follow Discussion panel and catch up.
Faceit (except Vanguard) the most intrusive anti cheat on the market. It's basicly spyware controlling everything you do and type on your PC (no, not only when you play Battlebit). Program itself can also open "door" for other malware in future, infecting not only your desktop but also router and all devices connected with it (also by wifi). There are reports that in some cases Faceit deleted legal software and messed with official drivers. What worse, company has been bought by saudi who have their own point of view and philosophy about privacy and data selling.
Yes, it may be better anti cheat than Easy Anti Cheat. Question is: is it worth it. Specially that cheaters already have broken Faceit security and already selling ready hacks for it.
P.S. Faceit also will make people playing Battlebit on Linux or Steam Deck unable to do so.
i will love to get from you some sources, some documentation, heuristic maybe instead of crazy conspiracy theory... is it possible?

It's so unnecessary only games keep cheaters out by simply having an admin on the servers. When someone is suspicious they check that player out and ban them if necessary.
ok, let's imagine they wanted to do that, Battlebit sold around 2mil copies, there are around 80k people playing at the same time, servers are for 64, 128, 254 players, not all servers are full = let's say there might be 1000 servers, where do you find those admins? What if the player base doubles or triples?

Since there's going to be commuinity servers (There's allready a couple) that load will probally be lowered when they get released.

how you lower number of players and number of servers by adding more servers?
doesnt mean more servers that there will be more servers?

Right now it's official servers, the game developers host all the servers. When players can make their own and some groups and websites do so, it will split the load quite significantly. TF2 sorta like that now too

FaceIt is currently working on a special version just for BattleBit, that will also support Linux.

Originally posted by Maikeru:
2) It can't run on Windows with CPU Virtualization on (or at least couldn't in the past). This is deal-breaker for users that need to run VMs/Docker
Yes and no. Only Vanguard (-->Valorant) will restrict you here. You can still run virutalization, but you have to disable the Hypervisior aka. Hyper-V, which will have a performance impact on your virtual machines.

Originally posted by Maikeru:
3) On Windows it requires secure boot, which pretty much all new devices have on by default but some older devices might not even have the option to turn it on or might have it off (which would require non tech savvy user to change BIOS settings)
Yeah, I agree.

Originally posted by Maikeru:
4) It's kernel based anticheat, so in a theory a potential hacker who could get in would have root access to your pc = yes, it's quite far fetched but for some it is a security concern
Nope. This is windows. There is no "kernel-based" software. It runs under elevated privileges (admin-user privileges), which in the linux world would be the equivalent to something that runs as the root.

Originally posted by Maikeru:
Personally I had issues with Kernel based anticheats, specifically Vanguard (Valorant) - I could not play the game becuase of my BIOS settings which I can't change otherwise it would break some things I do need.

It one 100% depends on the implementation, those are just some worries people have.
You ran into the problem you mentioned in point 2. Vanguard requires you to disable Hyper-V. It has nothing to do with the Faceit-Anti-Cheat. "Kernel-based" software does not exist in the Windows world.

i understand, but i dont understand how it is related to "have admins for each server" because i think that when there will be more servers, then there will be more admins for more servers (in theory that will be better tthan AC use admins for every server, who will manually check players one by one)

i mean.. more servers doesnt mean less players, it means the same number of players on more servers...
more servers = more servers.. like.. higher number of servers
higher number of servers = more admins, when there will be admins for every server
then.. your "lowered load" in fact means more ppl to pay and more work for more ppl.. because you will add servers...

do you remember what was original point? that there should be ppl for each server and check players manually... more servers - more admins - more work

then.. what did you wanna prove by that?

Math's not your strongest thing is it?

If there's 10 official servers, an there's going to be 5 community servers, They're obviously going to use less official servers?

Cause community servers arnt run by dev...

You clearly new to gaming and only played video games on PC since 2015.

i would buy this game but i stopped playing games who have agressive anticheats , anything who asks root access to my pc is no

not to say valorant had problem that said root access was exploited hackers basicly having access to all people PC's who used valorant antycheat

this happened with several other games , id rather play with cheaters then let company have back door into my pc waiting for somone to explit

i seen video on youtube just few months ago how to "avoid any antycheat who uses root access by circumventing entire problem of access"

i hope dev reconsiders this.

Just like now, empty servers are closed, and reopened as needed. That seems to be a good way to do it compared to valve's old "have 300 official servers empty you get quickplayed into"

math you said..
mkay..

10 servers = x*10 admins (x= number of admins on one server)
10 offi servers + 5 community servers = 15 servers = x*15 admins

x*10<x*15

dont forgot, admins are there instead of anticheat, it means they should be on any server.

then again, what did you wanna say?

At least 3 admins, if we mean 24 hours working servers.
