You can find recipes and make it, also you get the basic recipe through the quests.

I played for quite a bit yesterday and have only found recipes for food and weapon mods, are those recipes for backpacks/armor pretty rare?

Yeah they are pretty rare, we are discussing a posibility of looting armor from npc enemies.

I played pre-release for 25-30 hours and didn't come across the backpack blueprint. I did find the upgraded backpack blueprint though as an item in the world rather than loot.

This really should have been in from the get go. No idea who on the drawing board got executive power to decide that making it hard to get armor/inventory space but super EZ to find guns/food/water in a survival game was a good idea.

You literally can throw stones at anomolies, take the rest of the good points from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. too.

This isn't a survival zombie apocalypse, it's a Stalker successor, you know? An area where tech is so high it literally ♥♥♥♥♥ on the rest of the planet Earth.

But everyone is running around with no armour, backpacks and frying pans? Stalker made sense, Nations would arm everyone to the teeth for battle over assets/control. Even if there are story elements for people losing their mind, gear does not magically disappear.

Considering there is more food/water than I can even carry, that is quite evident. It's easier to get Tuna onto this damn Island than it is a fking backpack? Lol

Trains/industrial vehicles/apc's tanks, bunkers, all normal, but basic survival gear is super rare in a zone of anomalies.

Don't just discuss it, make it happen, whoever is going for the "this needs to be DayZ" route clearly doesn't know the lore of STALKER, the rest of the team are exceptional.

This is not a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. successor in any way, it would take us 5 times more time to get to that level of content, we are a very small team and Desolate is in Early Access. Thank you for your feedback, we want to make the game as fun as possible for everyone. The problem with the recipe of the basic backpack not available will be fixed in the next patch.

just a suggestion if you guys decide to make bandits drop armour could it be that there is a % chance that the armour doesnt fit and we would have to resize it at a workbench so there is abit more effort into getting that armour upgrade, maybe have to make a certain kit to be able to resize the armour. Keep up the good work Devs

So will we need to start a new game to receive it or will it be added retroactively somehow?

It will be added to everybody as a default recipe.

There are marauders and looters, there was a disaster two years ago. Also there are reasons for this start which will be told players in the third chapter, I can't spoil everything.

Most of the assets were on the island before the disaster but got looted and destroyed.
