What the heck happened to the ratings for this game
was looking to purchase it soon..but the dropoff in ratings regarding the UI is like a freefall.
Hopefully the Developer can address the issues...wow

I think during early access we mostly had hardcore fans of the genre who were able to look past the rough spots and enjoy the core of the game. And then I think when we moved into full release, we opened the game to a different kind of audience with different expectations.

If you take a look at the News section you'll see that I'm still constantly improving the game, and I've implemented a lot of the features that new players have been demanding. I've also already fixed a lot of the bugs mentioned in some of the negative reviews.

I'm going to keep working on the game, fixing and improving things. Hopefully some of those negative reviews will change. And due to the feedback helping me to improve the game, new players will play a better game and leave better reviews.

The unvarnished truth is that the game should flat out not be in release. Perhaps the developer needed an influx of cash for some reason but the game is not even remotely done.

I did only encounter one bug, after the shadowlands i fell from the stairs.
Besides this i did not encounter one, but maybe i was lucky.

Saying the developer only looked for cash is very wrong, because he still put a lot of work in this game.
If it was only for money he could simply stop doing so.

Personaly i realy like this game.

There are a few minor bugs (mostly having to do with in-town pathing problems allowing character to "fall off" and get stuck, but these are easily recoverable using the ~ cheat function). The developer is extremely hands-on and very responsive. I personal wish for a few more UI additions to make the UI a little more user friendly in regards to troop and lance management.

Disagree. I've played the game a ton. It has some minor issues. It's not a AAA title with all the bells and whistles but you'll get your money out of it. Everyone is a critic expecting FFT from a small studio.

I don't think that's a valid argument considering that there are many indie games on Steam (with equally indie production value or worse) that has much better rating in steam review. Sure, there are always a few people expecting too much, but most people will judge things fairly and understand the limitation of indie.

No one expects AAA quality out of indie games they're buying, most people know what they're getting, really. If a game is poorly reviewed, then there had to be reasons why other than the "people expecting too much" argument.

I read the top relevant review which is negative, and the criticism is fully game design decisions/mechanics rather than production value.

Personally though, even though I'm an srpg fan and avid strategy gamer, this game is a skip for me. I watched a few gameplay videos on it and it just seem bland and boring. It's missing what makes Asian "jrpg/srpg" games great, it just doesn't have the charm and the art is weak. In short, the game simply extremely unappealing visually, from the UI to the portraits, and no amount of polish can fix it for me. And it seems some of the reviews I read agree with this too, which makes sense really.

Everyone is entitle to their own opinion. No issue with that. I'm objecting to the assertion that the game should not have been released and is unplayble. That's a lie. The game is absolutely playable and has a full story. If the visual style and play isn't drawing you in that's a perfectly fine position to take. I think the game is fun and worth a few bucks but again that's just my opinion.

I haven't played it in a bit, going to soon now that I know full release. I do have to say the developer is very open about stuff and has been nothing but receptive.
Plus even the early access I played was fun sooooo...I dunno, I say it's a buy
