The hair is two sprites (one on top of the body and armor and the other behind, so characters with long hair can have different sizes of shoulder armor). The bangs and facial hair are another layer, so you can have more variation without having to make new hair sprites. The items in your hands switch to top or bottom layer depending on which way the character is facing (so a shield would be on the bottom layer when the character is facing right, but on the top layer when facing left).
Right now there is no support for alternate animations. That would have to be done in a mod, and it would require a little coding.
But if all you want to do is add more weapons and armor to the game, or new hair styles (and even include the new hair styles in randomly generated characters), or anything like that, then that should be very easy to do.
And with all that said, I would just be thrilled if people started making their own content for Himeko Sutori. I want to make that as easy as possible. So if you have any more questions or suggestions about adding to Himeko Sutori, I will gladly help.
Aside from that, there's only additional sprites to place behind/on top of actual character. I'm not sure if it's here, but I'll find out shortly.
Also, having equips as another sprite is a nice touch, but I hope it's optional though. With those custom animations I already mentioned, it's better to use standalone sheet, which I guess can be replaced by a monster sheet. Anyway, thanks for answers.
