I tend to buy games I played and enjoyed on Game Pass on Steam later when they get some discount but Atomic Heart wont be one of them. It has way too many rough edges and there is very little reason to play it again. There are long stretches of game where nothing interesting is happening and you just traverse vast land mass from point A to point B.
To me game is solid 9/10 and I played for about 30 hours, it has issues with combat here and there, difficulty should be increased on Armageddon(mods fixed that to me) but other than that I really enjoyed it.
For anybody who is able to speak russian, this game is damn good.
It's a real pity that English translation to put it bluntly is utter ♥♥♥♥, particularly English dub.
For me a Russian-Ukranian, this game was a nostalgia ride and reminded me a lot of childhood.
Its still my favourite game i have played for ages though, despite the rough edges.
I suspect they were worried about the war impacting sales and took the safer option of the big wodge of gamepass cash.
I am the opposite of you. I did not like the puzzles and platforming. I like more open exploration options in games. But this game is done well enough that I am tolerant of the genre game play choices they made. Overall, it has grown on me and I am enjoying it a lot.
And just like selling a game on Steam you basically get free marketing exposure when it is on Game Pass. The DLC is not free. If you like the game and want the DLC content you have to pay for it. Millions of people get to see your game for sale. And get to see reviews for the game.
It is a smart move. And when the game gets older and the price comes down the guaranteed money offsets the lower price later.
Atomic Heart will be a game that people will play and want to buy for many years to come. It is not a game that will fade away. The exposure it is getting now is worth the profit they might be losing if they are really losing anything. It seems they are happy.
Theres nothting major bug wise. The worst one i had was falling through the floor into enternal nothingness and having to reload. That the vsync bug are the only ones that have really affected me.
typical level zero troll, who only uses half a neuron
*The setting is incredible, screwed but spectacular battles, good mechanics and a story that I feel needs more development.
Hopefully there will be a DLC.
I recommend it, it's worth it!
Open your tiny eyes and use your tiny chimp brain. Private profiles are always level 0. The fact that your profile is private and you didn't know this fact tells me you have literally zero brain cells.
I'm glad I bought it. I'm taking my time, enjoying the visuals, and a bit of farming to not let my ray gun run out of juice too quickly. I do weird things like staying in the goo listening to the voices and talking to every dead person I can. I do hope ray tracing comes out soon to see where the reflections are at. If I were to grade it, I'd also give it an 8.1 or 9/10. The devs did a lot of homework with Soviet atomic era design, and it's sad most people don't mind stopping a bit to appreciate it all.
