Energy recharge

Is there a way of making the passive energy recharge do more than the first 3 segments? I know you can charge the battery by using consumables, upgraded melee weapons and the like, but I'm wondering if I'm not missing something. I grabbed a couple of energy recharge upgrades but it still wont go past 3rd segment, any ideas?

Yes look down further in the energy tree. There is a recharge option at the end. It doesn’t say it, but it will recharge the extra bars. I have it
