What were these incompetent devs thinking?
Yea the no sprinting really threw me off I feel so slow and clumsy in this game.
there's a skill to unlock for faster sprint

It's prolly cuz you have dash and sprint will kinda break a combat system

I was able to fix the ANNOYING stuttering on my EVGA 3080 Ti and i9 -13900k rig.

After lower a bunch of settings (that I shouldn't have had to with my specs) and seeing that it was still stuttering, I turned off Vsync in the games option menu. It caused screen tearing, but the stuttering was gone.

This led me to assume that if I opened Nvidia Control panel, and enabled/forced "fast Vsync" for the game (NOT the Global settings) in the vsync options, it would fix the issue. It appeared to work for a second, but nope, the stuttering continued. The fix? Had to enable windowed full screen in the game options (which sets it to 3840 x 2160p for me). Somehow... setting it to windows full screen made it run better than on exclusive full screen set to 1440p... I don't understand it

Specs:
Asus Z790 Hero Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 32GB 5600MHz C36
Intel i9 - 13900k
EVGA 3080 Ti

The fix for me:

Enable windowed full screen and tweaked the graphics a little in the game options (Most options set to "ultra". Visual FX set to "max", and a few things set to "high" like ambient occlusion, number of objects, materials, and volumetric fog). Working like it should! Buttery smooth with amazing graphics

The game is buttery smooth so far it's one of the best optimized game's in the last few year's my RX6800 everything maxed with FSR-Quality 4K is over 90fps

This Unreal Engine seems to be a problem, it might look great but every game that uses it seems to be a shutter feast. I'm not dealing with that again. Skipping games that use this engine.

no stuttering here, shaders compiled

Works fine on Steam, buttery smooth for me. On Game Pass, create a desktop shortcut to the game and close the Xbox app, it should run smoothly.

it doesn´t. it has shader precompilation. no one complains aboutn that except you, usually if a game running UE4 has stutters more than just a single individual complains about it. maybe you just need to investigate if the issue is not the game but your settings or OS. its not always the games fault you know. in case you run the devbuild and not the launch legit version and complain here. the devbuild from fitgirl and dodi doesn´t have framepacing optimizations or shader precompilation, it is the only one with stutter issues. not the official release.

So if you get stuttering with a PC, your solution is to buy even weaker hardware? Not sure I can follow the train of thought here.

You could just reduce the settings to match consoles settings and get the same subpar experience, if you really just want low FPS and resolution.

Try lowering your refresh rate if your still having tearing/stuttering issues.

I had the same problem in the open World, not at the start. i7-12700k, rtx4080, 32Gb Ram, 240hz Monitor (G-Sync). Idk why but if i let G-sync on with open frames it stutter. I tryed cap the frames via afterburner and it stutters even more. tryed cap frames ingame no smooth gameplay. the only thing that helped me, i had to set my Monitor to 120hz, disable G-Sync, force V-Sync on (Nvidia Control Panel), V-Sync off ingame. And it runs smooth.

Quite an opposite experience. HL is still running bad in some areas. This game is very smooth with a Fullscreen selected. Ryzen 3900X, RTX 3090, 16 GB DDR4
And still after so many days HL is not fixed yet

Well, they used to be much harder to kill back in dev build. Fun times
