Pinpoint places of interest on map?

Why is not an option to mark a spot on the map since you can explore an open area ?
I would be nice to do it without opening the map over and over again to see if you are going correctly to a position that is not marked as primary object.

I completely agree. The lack of waypoints is forcing you to open the map multiple times when looking for a test ground entrance.
