as well as light RPG elements and open world exploration

could this be the spiritual succesor to STALKER that we all been waiting for?

Honestly, no, not at all. I love Stalker and I think this game has HUGE potential. But the only two connections I see are that they're Russian and shooters. Thematically they seem very different to me.

Was there something in particular that prompted you to pre-order now? Or is that just something you do occasionally?

Typically, I wait 2-3 years for AAA game prices to drop to reasonable … But that 50% off release price is tempting.

2-3 years? That is will power. Typically if a game isn't day one for me then I wait for first sale which for most games is 3-6 months.

And this isn't even meant to be a shooter - the focus is melee.
