VTOL VR

VTOL VR

Jitter/lagging since recent update update (Possibly a AMD driver issue)
My system
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX
CPU: i7 12700KF RAM: 64GB - 5600MT/s
GPU: RX 7900 XT (latest diver installed)
OS: Windows 11
Headset: Oculus Quest 3 (Wired 2m Thunderbolt 3 cable, Running through Stem VR)

Not my video, just has the same issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5krnWmQ2pM&t=2s

Player log: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cupgrEfZ-SdPKhrCh-YX7c40BpBTIBj3ws6Ahfzg1YQ/edit?usp=sharing

Since the update my game has been randomly lagging in fight for no obvious reason (works fine in the menus), it did happen before the update but at a far less noticeable frequency. The confusing part is that my system has no trouble running the game where the GPU is only at about 60% and outputting 90 FPS. Any Trouble shooting tips?

whats wrong with the video?

The occasional delay where the frame kind of freezes and the jumps back, it is suttle in the video but very noticeable in VR

i have same issue. any fix?

Hi. My specs: B550 Gigabyte Aorus Master, Ryzen 5900x, 32GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz, 7900xtx sapphire nitro+ on amd driver 24.5.1 (setting default - I was also trying on other whql drivers version with no success), ssd kc3000 (7000/7000). Windows 10 Pro 22H2 fresh and updated. System never overclocked. Im using SteamVr api.
It looks like it shows a different frame for a split second, it looks like jumping frames but without any fps drops. I think its not a stutter. The problem seems to be more severe when HMD and MFD are enabled, but after disabling these options, problem does not go away completely - it still occurs every few seconds, but it is difficult to determine any constant frequency.
GPU not under any strain, CPU the same. Quest 2 is flawless. I tried via Virtual Desktop, Meta Quest original cable and trying different encoding options (h264, h264+, hevc, etc.) and the problem persists. No problem with other games - only VTOLVR. I've had this problem since I buyed VTOLVR. I was trying some Unity start options like (-screen-fullscreen 0 -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 etc.) with no success.
Please help - the game is unplayable for me. I will help in diagnosing, I can share the logs - please technical support for instructions.

EDIT: My player.log:
https://0bin.net/paste/pV8qiTfQ#Tfgmb-b0iILp4urSHVfgUjhWpa/DV59IbcS1Rt0wM/m

EDIT2: I was trying SteamVR "Advanced Supersampling Filtering" -> turning it ON or OFF doesn't change anything.

EDIT3: I was trying raise resolution setting in SteamVR like here:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/667970/discussions/1/4301572010778361716/
Any value from 20% to 500% did not change anything.
7900xtx is powerful enough that GPU usage at 500% resolution is 80-90%

Problem also occurs on Pico4, with 7900xtx. So, AMD involved ? But leaves the game unplayable.

Maybe, I think this might be a good lead. Which 7900xtx do you have? Have you also tried all of the above tips?

I downloaded a program called DDU ( display driver uninstaller ) and followed a few steps to THOROUGHFULLY uninstall display drivers. This includes booting in safe mode without internet access and using that tool ( look for youtube video for instructions , dont remember link right now )

Afterwards, I picked an older adrenaline driver , coz I remember VTOL running smoothly in the past. I still get some mild skipped frames, but only on ONE eye, and only when being on ground. When flying up in the air, everything was fine again.

I recommend to start a threat for people with (newer) AMD cards, perhaps we can collect some feedback from the community which adrenaline driver seems to be the most unproblematic. ( currently rolled back to 23.7.1 )

This needs more attention.

This issue still exists.

Anyone who reads this, if you're affected, make sure to fill in a bug report with AMD.

Same issue, Pico 4, RX6650XT

Exact same stuttering issue for me with a rx 6800 and reverb G2. launching in OpenXR mode fixed the issue but this led to other issues of not having steamVR running, such as thumb stick drift (fixable by a mod) and haptic feedback being stuck on 100% (havent been able to find a fix yet)

I solved my shaking/jittering in steamVR mode by disabling hardware accelerated GPU scheduling.

That reduced it by a margin, but it doesnt do any good if the problem occurs every 4 seconds instead of every second.

tried to start with OPENXR, but that refuses to work at all. If STEAMVR is inactive, then steamVR starts regardless ( even if openXR is selected as API ), and everything is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up ( 2fps in headset ) .

if SteamVR is already running, it DOESNT launch in SteamVR ( so far so good ) , but exlusively in a desktop window, with the headset being not involved ( not seeing any openXR, which is not so good ).

So, this game has been unplayable for me for months now, and I am pissed. Its one thing if a non-VR game has issues with VR, but a VR exclusive title ???

Same issue here with AMD GPU. Switching to OpenXR solved the issue. Works now with Oculus cable and wireless Virtual Desktop.

And yes I also had touble switching to OpenXR. It didn't work for me by just chosing this in the Steam game options menu. I had to use XR Picker since Steam kept using SteamVR as active OpenXR runtime. I only had to do this once so far. After that you don't need to launch SteamVR anymore to start this game.
been having a similar issue, although im on nvidia gpu, amd cpu. ton of stutter and lag when in vr, but weird thing is, when i go in the virtual desktop and click on literally anything but the game window, it goes back to normal. but when game window is focused, the lag starts right back up. its very strange.

Thsi thing had been around for a while.
I remember it had been so bad as if you were simulanteously in 2 slightly nonaligned positions, and the game switched back and forth in miliseconds.
