I feel like a system where you can pilot the plane to a position and either start an orbit on the spot, or have a button where you can indicate on the gps where an orbit needs to be, all while switching to the TV seat. This will replace the player pilot with an AI that will orbit where it needs to.
In COOP however, the TV operator and the pilot are 2 separate players.
Its gunner will stare at a virtual flat screen for the entire game, at that point why even use VR
Just generally I'm fairly against anything that's VR that has the player spending most of the time literally looking at a virtual flat screen.
Why not play it with a mouse & keyboard on a desktop monitor?

Why do you think the experience of being a TV operator with motion controllers is better than using a mouse & keyboard?
They have multiple interactive MFDs, and mostly look out and use the Head-Mounted Display to target enemies.
So you want to sit in front of a screen on your desk in a room, wearing a VR headset on, just in order to use another flat screen in a virtual room.
All you need is an AC-130 environment in your SteamVR home and use that virtual screen to play desktop AC-130 games.
It's a great idea and would be great to add to the roster of controlled aircraft.
Hopefully we can see some opfor aircraft get some love too.
