M230 vs GAU94

I always assumed that the M230 was better than the GAU94 because it had better range, but i did some testing and while the GAU94 does have worse spread it actually has better range than the M230. the M230 was having it's shots detonate mid air at 5.05nm meanwhile the GAU94 was hitting shots all the way out at 5.24nm. So what's the difference between the two? which ones are better in which situations?

When I know that I won't need to spare ammo, I go with the GAU-94 because of the much higher rate of fire, that compensates for the weaker 20mm ammunition, but goes through bullets very fast. Also better anti-personnel and anti-aircraft.

For longer missions and when rearming is difficult or not available, I go for the the M230, because slower rate of fire + 30mm make the 1200 rounds last practically forever.
