Why is every multiplayer server now just ATC larp

I always enjoyed running actual missions with new people and now all i see is servers full of control freaks

idk people got tired of playing the game i guess lol, there's like one (1) mostly full BVR server open and that's it, make sure you don't get banned by the server admin for flying too far lmao

Yea you get banned for basically no reason anymore. I like RP as much as the next guy but jesus people need to chill

Usually one BVR mission, a few apache missions and the rest is just ATC

ATC roleplayers could run actual missions or play as a type of overlord, but of course that would limit the amount of time they would have to act like garys mod admin abusers

If only we had dedicated servers so maybe we could have actual missions just running instead of having to rely on people to host them for the entire duration of the missions and beyond.

i saw someone compare the ATC servers to gmod darkrp and its so apt. they have these enforcers with sticks up their asses who scream at you for going over 30 knots while taxiing and the host bans you if you try to make anything interesting

Bc the dev allows his 15yrold buddies to control the discord and it drive any and all adults with the skills to create leave and go back to dcs

I mostly attribute this to the fact that the game has a long learning curve with no clear guidance on how to climb it.

New players play missions and die repeatedly without understanding why and what they can do differently so they go into a safe space.

Hopefully the trainer will help with that. Getting people in the game's discord where they can ask questions and get correct information is also a good step but it's a step external to the game unfortunately.

meh for me the learning was to watch some tutorials, do all the vanilla missions, if I had trouble I'd skip it then later look up a tutorial specific for the mission
then you're decent, and learn by playing and asking people on disc about specifics etc

Tbh my biggest issue is it just being impossible to evade a missile So i gave up on the missions and just ocasionally do PVP with my buddies
