Steam vr or oculus vr (not recommended)

Just a quick one I've always found running in the (not recommended) oculus mode from the start menu runs better than the ope/steam vr mode. I use to run a gtx970 and now run a gtx1070ti both standard and overclocked with the oculus rift cv1, i5 6500 cpu and 16gb DDR4 but with all 4 setups I found oculus mode to be smoother? is it time to drop the (not recommended) tag? Or do other oculus users find it runs better in steam vr?

sorry if this is a noob question, how do you run it in oculus vr mode?

when you hit start on steam you have to options in a small window that opens up, open vr or oculus vr, just select oculus. It dose this every time you start the game.

I hate how the game looks huge and childish in default, so I reduce the world scale in SteamVR down to 85-90% so the cockpit actually feels like an actual plane.

I haven't tested it with the new Unity update yet. Back in the days on some Oculus systems tracking went highwire (nothing to do with fps) and you were induced vomit after 10 seconds in cockpit :) (was only happening on certain systems after oculus update).

Now upgraded to i7-6700k works even better on oculus, better than running in steam vr if Im honest
