Dogfighting against NPC
Hostile Aircrafts can fly much slower without stall warnings.. it is not fun to dighfighting without multiplayer.. it's just frustrating

I've seen the enemy fighters up close, their alot like F16's fused with SU27/30's They definetly out perform our craft, the F45 is too heavy for its single engine and the other one which i always forget the name of, the fusion of the F22 and F15. It's too big and too fast for it. You can improve your agility by carrying less fuel and weapons but your best odds of success are to force the enemy to keep trying to evade you, you dont need to get on their tail hollywood style, you just need to get them in front of you for 1-2 seconds, long enough to fire your aim-9's

Honestly, if you can get up close in the F45 and the enemy is somewhat distracted, they generally won't notice you until you're right on top of them. Was playing a custom mission last night, friendly fighters launched to assist after i knocked out SAMs, and i was stuck with only guns (was kitted for air to ground). I just kinda snuck around the enemy aircraft (who apparently couldn't detect me, since they were only firing at my allies, despite being MUCH further away) before i would give them a burst from my gun and move on to the next.

More often than not, whoever notices the other first and gets a lock gets the kill, but really it mostly comes down to having more energy than the other guy. Diving on enemy fighters generally is pretty effective, but trying to outturn them in a close range dogfight (unless they're distracted or you manage to get RIGHT on their tail) is a fool's errand and will likely get you killed.

I'd watch out in custom missions there. Its entirely possible those fighters were scripted to ignore you to make a fight seem more cinematic around you. Sort of a backdrop if you will. I'd try it again on some other missions, see if it still works, if it does then maybe you were born for guns ^-^
