Dear Mr.Dev ; New player, old player, thoughts and feedback.
Hello,

Utmost respect.
I am a gamer. Yes, you are too. We, are gamers.
Okay, obvious hook. I'll admit it. You dodge, swing back. I dip, because I knew my first shot was the hook. I may have been drinking a little...surprising I know, given the name of this game... .-.. .- --. ..- -. .. - .- ...

So. I've been playing physics melee games since...forever.
Die By the Sword is my personal favorite. Exanima is another great example of physics/kinetics based melee combat. And: who could deny Toribash. Blade and Sorcery for VR, oh yes.
Your game has tapped into a vein.

I recently just discovered this game.
Thoughts:
  • Physics combos? Solid. I had to figure some out myself, tutorials seem incomplete (?). But once you link alternating-sides, ranges, guards, breaks, your game has chemistry!!!.
  • Button mashing : Technique Balance, Tasty. Arguably the best thing of this game. Honest to god, some janky mash-physics is fun. Silliness is a charming character of the game. However, it's nice to be rewarded for linking *simple* combos from some focused, minimalist-practice. At the highest level, neither (mash v. tech) should be distinguishable; your game currently has this. Observe it!
  • Customization : Ouch. There should be more tasty base-level options. Primary rainbow colors (Red,Greed,Blue,Orage,Yellow,Purple, etc) for default. No. Charge. Custom colors + patterns for extra. I understand the need to monitize, but, you catch more flies with honey. (e.g.; Rocket League). Core must be free, flavors are flavor$.
  • Team & Gang challenges: 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, 8v8. 10v10? At the very least, as co-op vs bots. Players are more welcoming to friends vs bots than friends vs strangers. Co-op is universally fun (get to that more next). If you had team-modes, with something like a free weekend? (Ya I know it's free already...so...hit up steam anyways for a free weekend (???) ). You could get a big influx.
  • Beat'em-Up Co-op Mode. Options for friendly-fire off and friendly-fire on. We're talking clunky physics streets of rage or final fight. If you can somehow intuitively mix in throws or ground fighting, it'd be the flavor of the month every month.

    But most importantly:
    Reach out to your community.
Get in touch with the gang that made Gang Beasts.
    Talk to Exanima devs.
Hell, why not, reach out to Interplay & Volition, ask about Die By the Sword.
And just shoot out: "Hey, I made this game, I really poured myself into it, and it's fun. Try it, punch your friends' skulls in."
Shout-out to some let's plays. I won't even lie: I only found this game 'cause of Videodunkey
Communication in your community is important, and you will find a community if you speak.

So ya, I know I'm already behind the curve, what with my source.
But man, that curve could still go up...and up.
FWD+< , BCK+>, one of my favorite combos.

    Good luck!
