Do people play this or is the game dead?

I'm looking into trying this game, but I don't know if the game is still played or the game is mostly dead.

People play ... there are just certain windows of times where it gets quiet. There's a small but passionate community that you can find on discord -- https://discord.gg/killerqueenblack -- they arrange matchups, weekend tournaments, etc.

The game is decently active and you will be able to get games through quick play and ranked, although it could use some more players(which it should get when it's released on xbox one with inclusion in the game pass and on ps4). During the day the game tends to be fairly dead, sometimes a few quickplay lobbys will pop up but ranked is hopeless. Around early evening is when most of the population hops on and games become easy to find in both ranked and quickplay. People usually play quite late into the night and often theres enough people solo qing after games die down for ranked games go into the early morning. There's also a decent sized casual player base that populates quickplay and low elo ranked.

There are enough players who play competitively to have a few leagues within indy gaming league to pick from depending on skill level and region. Plenty of players also play quite seriously/at a high level without being in a league.

Keep in mind it's not representative of the entire player base number wise though as the game is cross play with switch and discord(which I believe make up the majority of the player base), and will be coming out on xbox and ps4 as well.

Like uzi said, the discord is a great resource for the game, and tends to be where the player base congregates. There are plenty of people hanging out in voice during peak hours and there are always people willing to help newer players get into the game. The weekend event on sundays is always a great way to meet others who play this game and will have you playing with a stack of experienced players right away, lately there's been about ~40 people signing up each sunday.

Hope you pick it up, this games a bit of a hidden gem atm :)
