City Tile limits
What is the tile limit for a cities growth? It seems to me that a city can grow out about 3 tiles.

Also How far away should outposts be founded from another city?

Trying to get a handle on maximizing city potential and at the sametime capturing key resources.

Also I've noticed that in orbital view around cities there is a dark blue line that is over 3 tiles away from the center of my city. So I'm confused and thinking that this may be a border for future city growth.

If this is like Civ 5, you should be able to keep expanding the boarders, the but the workable area is limited to 2 tiles around teh city.

i assume its like CIV 5 , 3 workable tiles but your borders can go further.

how far cities should be apart is upto you , 3 tiles for each city lets them work there max but often it can be worth having them 2 tiles for each city apart.

City/Tile Mechanics are exactly like in Civ 5, except new cities start as outposts, which take 8 - 24 turns to grow to full cities, depending on your health and whether you use trade routes to boost them.

I generally like to found cities no less than 5 tiles apart to maximize my coverage.

@Ew It does seem to be three tiles or 3 tiles plus an adjacent tile.

@Del Thats pretty much what I decided on about 5 or 6 tiles. Allowed me to quickjly connect cities and establish trade routes. Seems work to work really well.

In Civ 5 I remember sending out lone colonist to set up cities on specific resources before an enemy city could. Beyond Earth seems like it will punish me for that.

why do ai place outposts upwards of 20 tiles away from there capital? I got blocked at placing an outpost of mine within the 3 tile rule and now im questioning why AI decided to move so close to my ZOC or lack of a better term why they moved so far away from there capital?

Cities have to have 3 tiles between them, which means they have to be placed a minimum of 4 tiles apart. The blue line in the orbital layer shows your orbital coverage, where you are allowed to place a satellite.

Cities can WORK out to a radius of 3 tiles. They can, slowly, CLAIM TERRITORY to a radius of 5 tiles.

Very subjective.

If you want to "go Tall" - a few, very populated, cities - you want to have zero overlap of workable tiles, placing them so that there are at least 6, possibly as many as 7 ort 8, tiles between city centers.

If you want to "go Wide" - lots of less-populated cities - you will want to pack them in closer together, with 3 to 5 tiles between each city center.
