*Spoilers* Story cleverness
*Spoilers*
I don't know about anyone else, but I found it really clever how the player was the alien. Especially since it explained why you're in third person view of this person (you're an alien watching from behind the soldier), and it explained how you could use this battle focus that slowed down time. Just thought it was cool how the mechanics in the game were given legitimate explinations rather than just being there. Almost like fourth wall breaking, but not quite.

Once Carter realize it do it change the gameplay or the HUD or something? I mean are you using the same HUD and powers up to the end of the game? Do you switch from playing the alien to actually playing Carter??
Muffin 22 AGO 2013 a las 11:19 a. m.
In response to your question Gwion, you keep the same skills and such. Carter turns into a major ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and you (the alien) have to find a new host, where you use the exact same set of skills. Turns out, Carter REALLY hates letting someone else steer his ship.

...why did i read the preview of this post before playing the game. COOL THANKS lol :(
kiranearitachi 22 AGO 2013 a las 11:26 a. m.
i loved how they tied the gameplay to the story :D

It said spoilers in the title. What else do you want? Don't preview it then. As far as plot devices go it's a good way to explain the rather psychic abilities that Carter manifests almost immediately at game start.

I found nothing wrong with the gameplay or the plot arcs. It's too bad replayability is out the window though.

Dude, use the spoiler tags. Someone might by just running the cursor over the topic and catch a glimpse accidentally. Also it may show up on the Community's main page and there you will see the topic + the first post (that's how a very important part of Walking Dead was spoiled to me >:-( )

not really if you play on the hardest difficulty and use different squad comps

Let me clarify : Replayability to me does not mean battles go slightly differently. I mean actual differences in gameplay each playthrough. It's something I demand in a game I pay 50 dollars for.

Greanted, I might revisit the title after beating it. But not anytime soon. I'd rather play X-COM: EU.

I have no idea what spoiler tags are, care to explain? When I create a post, all I see is a box for title, and a box for the post.

When you write a reply click on the "Formatting help" button left of the green "Post Comment" button. It will give you a list of tags that you can use.

These are spoiler tags:

anything written between them will be covered unless you put your mouse over it.

Example:
Write something like this:
"
Hidden Example Text
"
and you will get:
Hidden Example Text

It was a pretty poor execution. I liked the gameplay, but the story is just downright horrendious. The part about Carter decides that all Alien are evil and must be wiped out including sleepwalker, even after I picked the option that lets Etheral agree that humanity may be spared to destroy Origin (good riddence EA), stopped me from caring about this game's plot. The worst part is that, on final mission, Carter decides to kill Etheral right before the faceoff and possibly doom the entire human kind. Seriously, I didn't realize that I was playing to be a schoolyard bully.

Option did not matter in that game, beside like 2 gimmicks towards the end. Even then it doesn't really alter the ending much. TBH, I'd enjoy the game much better if they strip out the storyline.

I liked the story but had to ignore a few parts. You're told you have to keep Weaver from killing Axis in order to get information from him but she kills him anyway yet you still get the information.
Bisen 23 AGO 2013 a las 12:56 p. m.
Yea, I do agree with the last two posts, you definitely did need to ignore some continuity.

And also, lol at the origin comment.
