So no female agents?
I guess it makes sense, at that one point earlier when you listen on Angela's recorded message, Percy was making fun of that fact a woman was an agent. :< I want me a female agent.. Oh well :P.

A little progressive for the early 50s I guess.

Not right decade for feminism.

I was disappointed that I couldn't recruit a female agent in the beginning as well but I guess it fits the time period.

Bit silly thing to say if you know how the whole Feminism thing happened... =p

But it's completely ok within the game's aesthetic and I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with it.

But also remember that he was really put in his place after making the comment.

You can't have female agents. But you'll notice that some of the higher up agents with the Bureau are female. It actually meets the current workforce composition of male and female workers. It works like this, the majority of the workforce is men but they exist on a bell curve. The majority of the lowest income jobs are done by men, and the majority of the top class jobs are performed by men, but the mid level jobs are occupied by a much larger percentage of women. Fun fact.

In this game it seems that all the grunts who are gonna die are men. All the top positions are men. But the most important jobs in the mid level seem to be handled mostly by two females. The names escape me because I have a terrible memory for names.

But, I digress. I would say that making all new models and outfit options for women was not really an option due to budget. But I could be wrong, they could all be a bunch of sexist pigs who think women have no place in defending humanity, only having babies.

So when you think of the 60's, you immediatly think "female field agents and soldiers"?

A female lead character would not have really fit. I think a believable character is more important then what genitalia they are packing. Why not complain because you can't play as a panda.

"Zomg... why are there no female soldiers storming the beach at normandy in this WW2 movie!! sexist pigs the lot of you"

"This Troy movie sucks... there aren't any female soldiers in either army!"

I don't think that at all. I didn't comment saying I think it's sexist or anything like that. I'm fine with it being all men in the field. That was indeed the times. I didn't say I disagree with the game in any way. I was simply stating that there is probably a pretty good reason for their not being any female field agents, not that I think there should have been. I am not some white knight who is calling this game sexist. But it's simultaneously hard to defend the time period while simultaneously having the game be about alien invasion. It should just be acceptable that the designers chose not to have women in the field as a design decision, at least in my opinion.

Women *usually* have mid level desk jobs. Men *usually* do hard labour or have very high paying management positions.

It's been like this since about the end of World War 1.

If you don't think a female lead character is believable, then why wouldn't you just not pick a female character? It's a far more inclusive solution to your problem with having them in the game. I don't much identify with men, so I tend to find male lead characters pretty unbelievable. It doesn't bother me that they're there. I just don't pick them lol.

I'm not even sure why I'm bothering to offer an alternative solution though, as you seem to think wanting to play as a woman in a game like this is as silly as wanting to play as a panda.

Heck, even if you think a female lead would be abnormal in the 50s in a military situation, this is an unusual situation that involves /Aliens/ and the government scrambling to handle the problem. Which would include out of the box thinking.

So a woman lead could easily fit. If you want to make it fit the era more, sure, have characters comment on it.

No female agents because their presence would imply new playable models, different animations and maybe different hit boxes.

Well it was the reason why some other games featured only male or female playable characters (like in Sanctum I).

I doubt the absence of female agents is entirely for realism reason. If they wanted they could have included some female agents with a bit of background to explain their recrutement.
