it's not about political correctness (or rather the correct term being publicly comfertable) it's about history. back then, wemon wernt in the thick of it. it was largely belived that if a woman was wounded in the field of battle the casualties would be higher than if a male was wounded due to more men trying to save her than they would if it was just another guy. sad thing is they backed it up with scocal studies and were rather scientific about it. we may not like the results of the time, but hey, we dont have to like it, it's history. i rarely find someone now adays who agrees with thet nazi regiem on any level.
one more bit, same feeling was there with field agents for goverment jobs given they were technicaly a psudo extension of the military.
