I have just bought this game and not even played it yet, but if there are people hating on that then i completly agree, the franshise has delivered what people expect and they want to branch out and experiment a little to really out themselves out there.

Just accept it, this is how many businesses work.

It's not like ennemy unknow thats true but i like it that way. Why do games having the same ''name'' must be a copy of the other? games and compagny can evolve and change things....when ive first tryied this game i havent played enemy unknow and loved tha game....i still like this a little better then enemy unknow...they are for sure 2 different games...

Played only a little bit yet but that's exactely my feeling and frankly those who bought it without to know it's tactical fps and not at all turn based like is usually the series, are plain idiots.

EDIT: Sorry to use the idiot word but I was amazed to quote it wasn't censored so I celebrate the discovery of this freedom by using it everywhere. :-)

People need to catch a wake up.

This franchise was cashed in long ago with the original series having god knows how many different scenarios, orig xcom then underwater, then.. then... oh and they already had done a shooter style in the shape of Xcom Enforcer.

If anything at all then the current Xcom remake is the biggest cash grab of all as its so far off the mark and not Xcom that its not even funny, preset missions, no real soldier selection.. its just crap..

This on the other hand is a really decent fps set in the Xcom universe & tbh its actually pretty good. If youve ever wanted to be the little guy running around on the missions and in the base then give this a whirl.

its one of the under average games, cannot tell you why but the shooter part goes way to long, this : runn into a room, fight, run into a room, fight. It gets booring rather addicting.

First time I tried to play the game, I too hated it. I found the AI of my own men to be terrible and I could not find a way to have them to do what I expected. The kept running into crossfires and I spent my time healing them. After a while, I gave up and wrote my article. A few monts later, I saw a video by TotalBiscuit who obviously enjoyed the game apart from a few minor flaws, so I gave it another try. That's when I discovered that you best control your men's movements from the D-Pad which changed the game for me. From there an, I really enjoyed it and I will have to write a new article :)

What the game really lacks is a better tutorial so one can learn the combat mecanics without beig thrown into the water too quickly. Of course: tutorials... meh!

That's if you don't like this sort of games. I really enjoyed this aspect. Didn't expect much more.

I really like the setting. Graphicswise I'm loving it aswell. Storywise I can't tell yet because I just started, but I do like the way it is served. the 'outsiders' look great! But it would be nice if they patched the AI. Because that is what some times breaks the game for. But I won't let it stop me and try to work around it. And it would be nice if we could get an extra soldier in the field just for the sake of leveling up some more of them. Again nice game overall but AI could've been improved a bit more.

Its start boring in end, i must agree.
And i wonder why scientists can build soucer almost from start but not a single weapon in entire game, just one stupid dialog and it is all. Its plaine stupid.
Maybe field agent, we playing for, do not manage research or base design anymore, but someone does. Where is it? I miss scientific reports about new enemy or weapon, new eng invention...

As an owner and a fan of the entire series of X-COM (I've been playing since DOS UFO days), I can safely say, this game while it may not be the best one around, it is suitable to be part of the new rebranded XCOM franchise as a prequel. It may not be the best of X-COM/XCOM games; but it is still leagues ahead of the X-COM Enforcer title. That is what I loved about the previous X-COM titles, I wish they would bring the strategy FPS X-COM game out now.
I've honestly played both and I'm happy about the direction they took. They delivered 2 games for everyone. How can you not be happy?

Just got this on greenmangaming for $8.97 (75% off and a 20% off coupon). When XCOM: Enemy Unknown was released I said to a family member it's too bad they didn't make a shooter out of the great looking engine. I avoided the Bureau on release when I thought it was another turn based strategy game and I heard a lot of people weren't happy with the game (although I didn't read why).

Then I found out it is a lot like Mass Effect but with a better tactical interface. This is the game I wanted!! Still like the XCOM games but this is more my style. And it's super cheap right now :)
