FPS issues?
Anyone else having FPS issues in this game? Every other game runs maxed out, but this game I have pretty bad FPS when theres a battle going on. I am running a R9 280x. I tried DX11 and normal. I also tried lowering the graphics, but the fps drop is the same from low settings to high with no difference. Anyone have a solution?

I have AO off. And AA off. Effects and shadows turned to medium and the game runs fine on a 420M GT 2.4 GHz intel core i3 laptop.

Turning off advanced PhysX particles helps too, and there's one for PhysX cloth effects that I leave on and still get good gameplay, but also turning it off will help :AlienTarget:

If you have more than 4GB I would highly reccomend using the 4GB Patch located here:

http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

My i7 2600k and GTX 570 were struggling big time with this game. After using the above patch I am now able to run the game with the highest settings while downsampling from 2560x1440 to a 1080p screen (averaging above 30fps).

Run in a lower resolution, with scaling the game looks the same anyway. The default setting for graphics is medium with the other stuff OFF. Runs fine on my computer, maybe you should check your computer out.

Thanks for the info everyone. I turned the physX effects off, and now it runs 60+ FPS with everything else maxed out. So the PhysX for some reason, was the problem.

PhysX was using your CPU only to achieve the physics work, because you have an AMD GPU instead of an nVidia one. That is a slower process, and that's why you had the lower framerate.

780 ti, I7-2700K everything abolutly maxed out... But still after a while with too much on the screen at once I get down below 30fps... That is NOT normal, I run WATCH DOGS and every other game on the market at max (@1080) without problem. As far as I can tell it's the screen space reflection option that is very poorly programed or optimized... With that single option off I gain 50+ FPS. Funny thing is that when had my (AMD) HD6990 I only had to turn off the the physX to stay on 30+ @1080p... Thought i'd replay the game with all the phyx stuff on now that I have a Nvidia card.

I know this utility and is quite good using it for older games, especially with Oblivion, but... for some reason, it doesn't patch the main EXE in this game and it just makes a backup of it and tells you it was succesfully patched. So I don't think you're playing with a "patched" game to use above the 2 GB limit for 32-bit applications.

How do I know? Because the pre-patched original EXE and the post-patched EXE have always exactly the same CRC value, and that means that the file is never modified... :tank:

Thanks Azreal, I'll take your word for it. I'm not sure why I felt there was a performance increase after using the patch but my game definately runs smoother than it did previously. Whether or not it's as a result of other tweaks or simply the placebo effect I'm not too sure. Thanks for letting me know though.
