Lost Network Connection
It would appear I'm losing connection to steam for a couple of seconds and then being disconnected and having to start a new game.

I had an issue like this with TF2 and I made some sort of adjustment that fixed it. I also have this problem with DOTA2.

I highly doubt this is an ISP problem. My speeds are fast... is this a known issue with a hopefully known solution?

this is a known problem, which trendy have stated they are not going to fix

because dungeon defenders is so tightly linked with the steam match making system, if steam loses connection for even a millisecond you will lose connection from the game, the annoying thing is you get booted from your own game and to the server list.

although some disconnects are related to the client side (try seeing if you are able to access the internet when you next get the disconect). the majority im sure is due to steam side/trendy side.

That's what I was afraid of. I saw a lot of old posts talking about it, and was hoping that after so much time passing it would be resolved.

I am trying to work around with using gamespy... but then the matchmaking appears to be terrible, and I can't invite friends to private games.

bump. This sucks!

Bump I fixed it. The modem/router my ISP provided me would lose 18% of the packets coming in... so it would dump connection. I purchased a Motorola Surfboard, gave them back their modem and it works absolutely fine. Cable companies provide garbage routers.
