Or you do what the most ppl do: play a dps huntress , barbarian. The game is full of them but you will need a goob builder and they a rare.
Maybe some guys give you the advice to build a suire then a magician but .. dont do this. Pericing vs Splash dmg, splash dmg wins and fireball towers coast less.
maybe you got friends in this game? play with them its easier at the first time and dont try insane until you got 1000 tower stats on each, its wy frustrating to loose in this game ^^
If you need some help with this game, I'd be glad to help / assist you and teach you the finer things. I am by no means great at this game, and just got it @ a month or two ago, so I am not that far progression wise. I love having new friends to play the game with =)
However, from my experience.
1) always play hardcore, it grants 50% more exp and better loot at the cost of, if you die. You are dead until the next build phase.
2) I started with an apprentice, their fireball towers are really good, as mentioned above, however they have one major drawback. Some monsters have a fire immunity, making these towers useless against those monsters, unless you use a) a monk's strength drain aura b) a huntress' darkness trap or c) use a magic barricade to remove the elemental resistance, which isn't always an option or the most effective use of your DU (defensive units). **Note** The monk / apprentice is actually a recent setup if you play with a friend or have a controller for split screen. Monk Auras can be quite powerful.
3) a squire is actually far more effective, their harpoons are extremely powerful, but not until late in the game. Coupled with the Series Ev Tower Buff Beam, you can see these things fire off like a machine gun that does damage in the 6 digits and higher, they can be quite powerful.
4) you don't need 1000 tower stats on each to win in insane, its not nearly that hard. However, I really found you can power through different levels and find yourself kinda bored with the easier ones, so be careful with your progression, it can ruin your experience.
nm is a train wreck when it comes to progression and gear
