The only time I have sound problems is when i kill Ogres on NM where the sound of them dying supersedes any other sound.
It sounds like speaker will be break. Eventhough I reduce sound level to lowest (couldn't find how to mute game sound), I still got this sound when I play music from other application (game sound is lowest).
To settle your problem sounds, go to your Applications> Utilities> Audio MIDI Setup, and decrease the qualiter sounds of your helmet, of below 30,000 Hz.
Otherwise, you can still play DD? For the last Apple update I do not just play.
(Sorry for my English, i use google translation!)
But the lowest frequency on my mac is 44,100Hz. I can't set to lower than 30,000Hz
I went to the Audio MIDI Setup (go to applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup), then played around with the frequency at 'Built-in output'. Try 48000.0 Hz. If can't, go higher. I was successful at 48000 Hz. All static was gone! Hope this helps.
