EDIT: I have a pretty decent Series EV, and all the characters, except the new heroes, and the barbarian, I know how they all play though.
1st
Hybrid heroes making the game much harder, why? Well because you have to split your points on 6-8 stats. Especially if you are just started to play DD it is very hard. You will have a much easier life if you specialize your heroes at the beginning. So you create first some builders (Squire, Monk, Huntress, Series, Summoner) and 1 dps hero (preferably Monk)
2nd
Hero Speed caps at 100. That's why you can't invest any more points into it from your hero points. Often you don't need even need it because the points are getting filled by your gear.
3rd
A Series EV builder is pretty much limited to Reflect Beams, Physical Walls and Buff Beams. If you are going to use just the Buff Beam then all tower stats could be 0 and it does still a great job. That means you want to spent as much as possible on Tower Health until you hit some serious stats there.
4th
Important stats differs from hero to hero but you want always cap Hero Speed (see 2nd) and you want at least 300 (up to 800) points into Hero Casting Rate to build quickly during Build Phases.
My personal preference is survivability than pure dps output. Meanwhile your towers gaining much more health they are loosing slightly some dps.
Squire: Damage >= Health > Rate > Range
Monk: Damage >= Health = Range > Rate
Summoner: Damage >= Health > Range = Rate
Series EV: Health > Damage = Rate = Range
Huntress: Health = Range > Damage > Rate
Apprentice: Damage > Rate > Health > Range (The only hero I don't prefer tower health because of its worse scaling)
Ha soo much text for a simple question :)
Maybe a lot of text but also a lot of help :)
Just above the summoner, the series EV is probably outright the worst for DPS because it gets a 33% (or something like that) damage nerf on its weapons. Proton Beam and Decoy are situational at best, and although Proton Beam is pretty useful, it requires an unorthodox setup that a Squire's Circular Slice or a Barbarian's Hawk Stance doesn't.
However, she does have a pretty high cast rate, making her good as a dedicated upgrader for harder maps. Her other advantage is that she gets two weapons for more stats, so with a large enough knockback stat on a staff, she could make use of the alternate charge attack to push back trash mobs. Proton Beam also can slowly push away ogres, so there is that to consider.
Yes and I would focus on tower health instead of tower damage at first personally. EV walls are used by many and health scales better than damage. Even if you have 0 points in tower damage a buff beam can still double your defense damage. Of course it is still nice to have points in tower damage as well.
